Vivo has launched a new variant of its V9 smartphone. Called V9 6GB, this variant essentially boasts 6GB of RAM. In comparison, the standard variant was launched with 4GB of RAM. Vivo has launched the smartphone in Indonesia with no word on its availability in other markets, including India.
The Vivo V9 6GB looks the same as the standard variant, but there are quite a few changes under the hood. Apart from the bump in RAM, the new variant is also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. In comparison, the standard variant was powered by a Snapdragon 626 chipset.
The other big change is in the camera department as the new variant comes with a combination of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. Up front, the new V9 variant comes with a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel sensor. To put these into perspective, the standard variant was launched with a 16-megapixel+5-megapixel dual-camera setup, and a 24-megapixel selfie camera.
Apart from the above changes, the rest of the specifications and features remain the same. So you get a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge screen with 19:9 aspect ratio, and a notch at the top. it also features a 3,260mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro-USB port
The new Vivo V9 variant has been launched in Indonesia with a price tag of IDR 4,299,000. This roughly translates to Rs 20,592. The standard Vivo V9 was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 22,990. If and when launched in India, this variant of the Vivo V9 will be able to better compete with the Oppo F7, which too has a 6GB RAM model.
