RE: Vocab-ability Prefix–257 (a___ = verb prefix) – A More Powerful Vocabulary (earn UpVotes with “Vocab Practice” exercise)

MY VOCAB PRACTICE:

  1. awaken: Sleeping Beauty awaken from your unnatural slumber with this solemn kiss.
  2. amuse: I tried explaining but that didn't work. I tried telling a joke but she was still not amused. So I did a gig and kissed her on the cheek - the Hail Mary.
  3. assure: The hostess had assured her guests nothing was the matter, when again an agonized scream rang from upstairs and discomfited her guests.
  4. appoint: To rule well, don't appoint men who are either wiser than you or too competent.
Sort:

Good work!

Re your "rule," I think it's easy to follow, since most men are not wise, and most men are not very competent.

By the same token, to rule well one needs useful officers to do your bidding.

Yes, that's definitely true. If any leader can find a few good men to do the work properly, he will be very lucky.
