RE: Vocab-ability–195 (put, putat = calculate, think) – A More Powerful Vocabulary (earn UpVotes with “Vocab Practice” exercise)

“MY VOCAB PRACTICE.”

  1. I believe my COMPUTATION is close to the real price we have to pay for these items.
  2. COMPUTERS have made our lives a whole lot easier, but they seem to have disabled us from being more human to each other.
  3. Do you really have to AMPUTATE his finger for the one crime he has committed?
  4. I would like to file a DISPUTE about these charges on my credit card.
  5. Our parents have had a DISPUTE, but is it possible that we disregard and don’t take part on it?
  6. Her PUTATIVE ‘bestfriend’, who’s expected to be her confidante, has betrayed her.

Good work!

Great observation re computers.

I believe the same is true re smartphones. I see couples or groups of people sitting at tables in restaurants or bars, and they don't say a word to each other. They just sit there staring at their smartphones, and clicking on their smartphones, or scrolling thru their smartphones.

Somewhat NON-human, to say the least!
