You screamed letting go of her and covered both eyes with your hands. Ms Sheridan used that opportunity to take off. You were about to go after her when a portal opened next to you. Your brothers jumped out of the portals saying.
"Brother, father wants to see you right now."
"C'mon boys, I'm in the middle of something really important."
"He says it's urgent."
Will you follow your brother's ignore them and continue your hunt for Ms Sheridan?

I think the contestants wrote this choose your own adventure for the first time so it was awkward and some didn't understand what to do. They couldn't keep "you" as the main character addressing the main actor of the story as the reader. They didn't leave a choice at the end or they didn't have a story.
I was happy however to meet @oilmagnate who seems to understand a little of what I was getting at and @doziekash who jumped right in to this challenge. Also special thanks to @buffalobison who did complete the given task first. I have to go now. Tomorrow will be prize time.
I'm not sure at the moment if I should continue this story or make a new one.

Unto your question about choosing a story. The thing about fiction is that anything can happen and the story can move to any direction. Any of the options work for me, of course except option 3, there's no way I'm letting you have all the fun alone.
