RE: VYB Announcement: @x-1pob-1vyb is out of VYB || Claim ratio is now 2 POB / 1 VYB

in #vyb3 years ago

I was still staking POB when receiving them, this makes me wonder, if VYB is to complement POB (I read you mention that in a comment recently) why would you swap them to VYB? Just curious as I try to understand the reason :)

The airdrop was designed to complement POB by getting lots of VYB into the hands of accountholders who had already demonstrated a commitment to POB.

The claim procedure was also designed to complement POB, but in a slightly different way. First and foremost, whereas the airdropped VYB were delivered staked (and thus not immediately exchangeable), the claim procedure was the only way an accountholder could initially invest in VYB (at least to any significant degree), and the only way to do that was with POB. The intention there was to push early would-be investors to purchase POB on the open market, then exchange those POB for VYB. As such, a strong demand for VYB would spill over into a sizable demand for POB. Surprisingly (to me, anyways), very few accountholders chose to go that route. The vast majority of the early 'investors' in VYB chose to use their existing POB or their incoming POB rewards.

Also, having the claim procedure in place creates a floor for the price of POB. Up until 2 days ago, there was no reason the price of POB (on the open market) should have ever been below the price of VYB (on the open market) because arbitrageurs could simply purchase POB on the open market, exchange the POB for VYB at 1:1, then sell the VYB on the open market (at the higher price).

Quite honestly, I did not expect the VYB tokens at the 1:1 claim rate to be claimed as quickly as they were. We have @onealfa mostly to thank for that. He claimed over 200,000 of those 300,000 VYB.

Also, fwiw, it has always been unclear to me under what circumstances the market price of VYB would rise significantly above the market price of POB (they share the same tokenomics and overlap in almost every conceivable way -- even the VYB Anti-Abuse Team is actively combatting abuse on behalf of both tribes and the VYB Curation Project has a sizable VYB and POB curation trail). The additional claim rates beyond 1:1 were included on the chance that individuals might (at some point in the future) come to value VYB more than POB. However, that was never the expectation -- merely included as a possibility. Part of the rationale there was to [1] keep a sizable amount of VYB 'locked away' for quite some time, so that VYB holders' relative voting power would be higher and [2] to allow for the possibility of one or more VYB liquidity pools in the future.

I have claimed the first 10,000 2-POB-for-1-VYB tokens in order to clearly demonstrate my bullishness on VYB. This does not, however, indicate any bearishness on my part with respect to POB.

Well i can think of two reasons -
1.) May be because it's value is more deflationary, as it uses certain measures to discourage unstaking and hence selling.

2.) Since people already have POB and VYB is a recent launch. People also want to hold and grow a stake of VYB.

But there can also be others.

Could be valid these points you make, not judging btw, just curious and trying to understand it :)

I see VYB price at least 5x of POB in 2023.
I might be wrong, not a financial advice. DYOR

Of course, still thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Will keep stacking them..

Because vyb has no downvoting and some of us are being hounded off the other platforms, invluding pob, by pro covidhoax whales silencing any non government approved info!
