The people of tangale are found in Gombe state, the northern part of Nigeria. Gombe state consist of Akko, Nafada, Balanga, Billiri, Kaltungo, Shongom, Yamaltu-Deba, Kwami, Dukku and Funakaye. There has been an ongoing discourse on the place of Snake as a Totem in the history and heritage of the Tangale Nation. The tangale language is appreciated by its people followed by its traditional dance, food and mode of dressing. Tangale have been ranked among the first twenty one major ethnic groups and languages of Nigeria. The people of tangale also have high regard for agriculture as a basic form of finance and feeding.
