In the world today, people are faced with a major challenge of building their self-confidence. Most times people think they are born with limitless self-confidence, but nobody is. According to Maxwell Maltz “low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand brake on”. Self-confidence is something that you learn to build up because the challenging world can deflate it.
Below are tips that can help boost your self-confidence:
1. Know your weaknesses and strengths:
It is important to know what you are good at. Taking a skills assessment test is a great way to determine your strengths and weaknesses. It is always a great achievement to point out ones strength and weakness as it helps one to work towards success.
2. Affirm yourself:
It is important that you do not beat yourself up over the things that you have trouble doing. Instead of complaining about what your weaknesses are, try to find ways to improve your life. According to Nikki Carnevale “affirmation are a powerful tool to deliberately install desired beliefs about yourself”. Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements that we say to ourselves.
3. Set goals:
Set achievable goals on a regular basis and then take small steps to accomplish them. Don’t get upset if you don’t accomplish all your goals. You can always change your goals so that you can be more successful.
4. Surround yourself with Positive minds:
Listening to other people’s challenges and accomplishments can go a long way in feeling better about yourself. You can also learn how to overcome obstacles in life by sharing stories.
Finally, self-belief comes not just by trying to convince yourself you can do stuff. True self-belief actually comes from developing the vision that you can relax socially, start that business, write that book, or whatever it is you need to do or be.
