Understanding The Plight Of The Elderly (Aged) ln Africa.
The Elderly as we all know are people either male or female who are regarded as senior citizens that are up to the ages of 65 - 70 years and above.
Africa ,ln context majorly is seen or assumed to be underdeveloped or less developed and lacks the necessary and adequate ammunities or facilities to care for its people the elderly in context. Because of the bad governance , corruption and negligence to human rights and human needs by governing bodies, has lead to the diminishing and decay of alot of things in this region.
FACTORS AFFECTING THE ELDERLY (AGED)
Migration:- migrating to better places, because of poverty and the hunger to search for greener pastures alot of younger folks who reside in the villages and other rural settlement abandon their elderly (Aged) relatives , parents with or less care givers in order to search for greener pastures in far distances , urban areas,town and more developed places while some even travel outside their country.
POOR HEALTH /MEDICAL FACILITIES:-
The Aged (Elderly) as we all know are people that have advanced in age which means they need more care and support in this critical point in their life , But the reverse seems to be the case, Alot of have tissues , cells,heart and lungs that are not performing or functioning as they used to be before because of age, And this is why good medi-care comes into place. Alot of them lack the drugs, the proper food supplements and other health materials needed to enjoy their old age.
POOR / IMPROPER INFORMATION.
Alot of older people in Africa lack the necessary information needed to sustain ,mentain and live their old age here on earth. Their is a great lack in this area to help them physically,mentally,psycological and emotionally , so a whole lot of them regret living to meet their older age rather than living to fulfill it.
LACK OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE ELDERLY.
These is a great factor really affecting the Elderly in Africa, because of the poverty in their various countries some where not able to achieve , plan or save for the later years in life, Some happen to be victim of circumstance ,they find their selfs not being able to pay their bills buy drugs and even pay for medication.
