6 WAYS TO GET ALONG WITH NEW PEOPLE.

in #wafrica5 years ago
Certain times in life, we will have to stay with new people for a while, either in form of a reality TV show, moving into a new estate or joining a new group of friends. So in this post, i will be talking about how to get along with the new peeps with ease.

Here are 5 ways to get along with new people.

1. DON'T BE QUICK TO TALK.

What i mean is you shouldn't be in a hurry to make an impression with what you say and what you do. Don't put out too much information about yourself maybe during introductions. Don't be too expressive in every discussion, at least not yet. Listen more than talk. This will help you understand others better, which is very important.

2. BE INDEPENDENT.

What i mean here is that you shouldn't always ask for favours from everyone all the time. Get your own pots, get your own buckets, get your own cooking ingredients. Exhuming some level of independence will help preserve your respect. Even if you really need something, make sure to ask for it once and get yours later.

3. BE YOURSELF.

Don't try to fake any behaviour to suit the moment. Instead show who you are and people will see that and decide to accept you the way you are. Since you guys will be together for a long time, the true you will definitely show. Just be your true personality and don't expect everyone to like you.

4. BE TRUTHFUL.

Except you are playing some kind of game, you should be sincere about the infomation you give about yourself. If you are trying to start a new life and forget about the past, then make it clear that you don't wanna talk about the past. But if you decide to, then don't lie because the truth may one day come up to hunt you.

5. MIND YOUR BUSINESS.

Always mind your business at all time. This doesn't mean avoiding everyone and isolating yourself. It means avoiding gossips, it means not attending parties you are not invited to, it means not joining conversations that doesn't concern you, it means not answering questions you not asked, it means not giving advices you are not asked for, etc.

6. NOTICE THE BONDING MOMENTS.

What i call bonding moments are those moment where everyone finds themself in a general fun discussion about life, movie, food etc and they are sharing their views. It's okay to share your views too and join the conversation. Remember it's not about you, it's about having fun. However, let your presense be felt. If you have nothing to say, you can just laugh and let your laughter be heard.
