I can't believe that by this time, we are still here. What is the matter with you? Ifeoma asked Uchechi. I am very sorry Ify, replied Uchechi, I am almost done.
Please be fast about it, said Ifeoma, I don't want to miss my spot at the village square, and I know that Obinna should be there by now.
The moon is shinning so bright, very bright that one will think it's day time. And the village square is filled up with both children and teens and some older once. Every body is waiting for Obodiya, the village most elderly woman for the day's edition of TALE'S BY MOONLIGHT. ( Let's stop there and take it back a bit)
" Tale's by Moonlight " is one of the old African culture.
Just as the name, Tale's by moonlight is all about stories either fiction or nonfiction. The younger folks always gather in an open field (mostly village squares), and the story is being tolled by an older person.
It is not necessary that there most be moonlight but it is more fun when the moon is up.
Tale's by moonlight is very significant in the African culture and tradition. It is a form of Informal Education (very educative). It also promote unity and peace. Some of the young boys and girls uses it as a medium to fall in love just as in the case of Ifeoma and Obinna in the introduction of this post.
Is quite unfortunate that this valuable culture has lost it place in most of the African community, but that doesn't mean we should forget were we came from.
