WHAT WE USED TO KNOW
We were used to children running in the streets
Without hesitation, they play on their bare feet
Joyfully singing for their grannies
As aeroplanes hover around the skies
We used to know children play in groups
Creating a bond that would lead them on in life
Learning from an age so tender
To be a brother's keeper
We used to know children sing as birds flew by
Innocently waiting for their fingernails to turn white
We used to know children look attentively into the night sky
To see the images in the moon
All these are no more the case
With children living in high walled buildings
Living a life of isolation
With video games; their only consolation
We have gradually lost the innocence of childhood
Overwhelmed by the innocence of adulthood
Everyone to his or her business
Creating a society filled with chaos and selfishness
Will HARDWORK not gradually disappear
And be a thing of the past?
Will good family values not gradually erode
And discipline; away from us go?
Can you feel the ticking of the bomb?
Tick, Tick, Tick........ We're out of time
Will we wait for it to detonate
Or quickly defuse the landmines?
PEAK; It's in you
APC; The change begins with you
MTN; Propagate ideal values everywhere you go
SAN; I rest my case
