When I was designing a mobile app in the banking sector, I did a deep dive into several options and signed up with banks like Koho, EQ, Wise. After trying them out, I ended up completely switching from RBC to mainly EQ Bank (Canada).

Right now, they are running a referral program (until November 15) where you can get $50 when you sign up and deposit at least $100 into your new account. So I thought I’d share since it’s a good tool. 💸
Here were the deciding factors for me: 1) no account fees, 2) EQ has one of the highest interest rates on chequeing/savinngs accounts 3) you can withdraw funds from any bank's ATM (and there's CDIC protection on your funds)
I’m actually curious (and it would help with my UI/UX research) — what are the critical factors for you when choosing a bank?
I’m also searching for a bank like EQ that offers business accounts (EQ doesn’t have business accounts yet). If anyone has recommendations for a business bank, let me know in the comments!
