In a recent video published by the Gamesky channel on YouTube, the Skullcandy Sesh Evo, the latest innovation in truly wireless earbuds, was placed under scrutiny to assess its improvements over its predecessor. The Sesh Evo arrives at a modest price point, offering a slew of enhanced features for just $10 more than the original model. Among these new capabilities is the Tile integration — allowing users to track down their earbuds with ease through a mobile application. The earbuds now also operate on Bluetooth 5.0 and maintain strong connectivity across a variety of devices, without perceptible lag while streaming video content. Furthermore, the product's IP55 rating signifies a robust resilience against sweat and rain, thereby catering to a wide range of environmental conditions.
Delving deeper into the physical attributes, the Sesh Evo comes with multiple silicone ear tips to ensure a comfortable fit and includes a USB-C cable for charging the device. An impressive improvement is noted in battery performance, with the earbuds supporting five hours of use on a single charge and an aggregate of 24 hours when combined with the case. This marks a significant boost over the first generation, which offered three hours per charge, and a total of just ten hours with the case. The case itself is sleek and portable, featuring a USB-C input, a pairing button, and four indicator lights that display remaining battery life. While the design of the earbuds is praised for comfort, the physical button controls—used for their multifunctionality—have received criticism, with some users finding them to exert pressure on the ear when operated.
In terms of acoustic performance, the Sesh Evo now provides three distinct EQ settings: Music, Movie, and Podcast modes. While Music mode is set as the default, the video's author suggests that Movie mode has enhanced the listening experience, offering a preferable sound quality. In a leap forward for user flexibility, unlike the original Sesh model that allowed only one earbud to be used independently, the Evo supports the use of either the left or right earbud solo. On the topic of call quality, these earbuds employ single microphones, which may not suppress background noise but are considered to render the speaker's voice clearly for phone calls.
