Ingredients
🧈 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
🟤 1/2 cup brown sugar
🧂 28 Saltine crackers
🍫 Chocolate chips (measure with your heart)
🌟 Holiday sprinkles for decoration
🛢️ Non-stick spray for lining the baking dish

Instructions
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 9-11 minutes
Total Time: Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes (includes cooling time)
Equipment

  • Foil-lined baking dish

  • Small saucepan

  • Spoon or spatula for spreading

  • Refrigerator (for cooling)

Cooking Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Take a baking dish and line it with aluminum foil. Coat the foil lightly with non-stick spray.

  3. Arrange the Saltine crackers evenly at the bottom of the dish; you should have about 28 of them fitting snugly.

  4. In your saucepan, melt the stick of butter over medium-high heat. Add the 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the melted butter.

  5. Stir the mixture continuously and allow it to cook for 3 minutes. Wait until it's bubbling across the entire surface.

  6. Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the crackers in the baking dish. Ensure an even spread covering each cracker.

  7. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 7 minutes.

  8. Take the dish out and sprinkle the chocolate chips generously over the top. If the crackers have shifted, gently push them back together.

  9. Return the dish to the oven for a couple of minutes until the chocolate chips begin to melt.

  10. Remove from the oven and use a spoon to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the crackers.

  11. Add holiday cheer by decorating the chocolate with your choice of holiday sprinkles.

  12. Allow the Christmas Crack to cool in the refrigerator for about 1 hour or until it's solidified.

  13. Once cooled, break the sheet into pieces, large or small, as per your preference.

Cooking Tips

  • To avoid sticking, make sure the foil is well-coated with non-stick spray.

  • The butter and sugar mixture needs to reach a bubbling stage to ensure proper caramelization.

  • Customize your Christmas Crack with different types of chocolate or nuts for added texture and flavor.

Servings: Makes one tray; servings vary based on how large or small you break the pieces.
