🧅 1 medium onion, chopped
🧄 3 cloves garlic, chopped
🍅 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies
🧂 1 teaspoon garlic powder
🧂 1 teaspoon onion powder
🌿 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
🧂 Salt, to taste
🧂 Pepper, to taste
🌿 1 tablespoon dried parsley
🧆 1 package (about 12) Italian Style Meatballs
🥖 1 loaf parmesan romano garlic bread
🧀 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or a blend)

Instructions

1- Prep the Sauce:

  • In a medium-sized pot, heat the oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and garlic, sautéing until the onions become soft and translucent.
  • Stir in the can of diced tomatoes with green chilies.
  • Season the sauce with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley. Stir well.

2- Cook the Meatballs:

  • In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the Italian-style meatballs and brown them on all sides. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once browned, pour the prepared tomato sauce over the meatballs in the skillet.
  • Allow it to simmer gently for about 10 minutes, so the flavors meld together.

3- Assemble the Subs:

  • Preheat the broiler on your oven.
  • Cut the parmesan romano garlic bread into sandwich-sized pieces and open them up.
  • Spoon the meatballs and sauce generously onto each piece of bread.
  • Top each with a generous handful of shredded cheese.

4- Melt the Cheese:

  • Place the assembled subs under the broiler just until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly (approximately 2-3 minutes).
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot.
