There is a game set in the TWD universe where main character is a twelve-year-old girl called Clementine. When the apocalypse starts, she finds a protector in a professor convicted of murdering his wife and on his way to prison. I don't remember the name of the game, though. But I very much enjoyed it. It was exciting, well-written and it had a touching end.
What do you think about The Last of Us as a whole? Some strong criticism people give is the fact that the enemies have a very simple and dumb AI as their only attack pattern is running straight at the player, they don't react properly to the player's footsteps or the noise they make when they shoot and how easy it is to break their AI.
I agree, the AI is shit, but then again we are still far from having (or wanting) very smart enemy minions. The best game I know that did it best was Metal Gear Solid 3.
Indeed, it's very rare to find a game that exceeds at both writing and gameplay since they tend to focus on one and neglect the other. What is the best written videogame you have played that still plays well enough?

It is just called TWD. Touchy but then you realize you are not allowed much interaction and your choices have little effect over who lives at the end.
I didn't play it at all. I just watched a few play-throughs enjoying it as a movie.
then you will be blown by The Last of Us
