If you are new to the game or want to familiarize yourself to the game and climb to silver, this will be the guide for you!
I currently have 4 accounts for SplinterLands, 2 on Diamond, 1 on silver, and 1 on bronze.
The last account, I will use as a reference on how to climb to Silver 3.
As the title suggest this walkthrough will guide you to Silver 3 and help you familiarize yourself with the game using Mylor Crowling.
So first things first, why Mylor Crowling and the Earth splinter?
It's because Mylor Crowling has one of the most OP summoner ability in the early game. Add to the fact the Earth Splinter has the Wood Nymph and Flesh Golem. I will talk about them later.
First, let us talk about Mylor Crowling. It's this handsome dude!
Mylor Crowling has the Thorns ability, which grants Return Damage to your monster. What this means is, whenever your monsters are attacked by melee opponents, their attacker will receive damage as well. And in bronze league, most players use melee monster, since most of the free monsters are melee monsters. Pretty, straightforward right? It's like Thornmail in League of Legends and Blademail in Dota.
Before we proceed any further, this is a free-to-play guide, so aside from spellbook, you need to buy to earn DEC, you won't be spending a single penny. I would like to clarify that you would need to get a couple of wins before having the DEC to rent Mylor Crowling.
Now, let us continue.
By the time of writing this guide, it costs 0.5 DEC to rent Mylor Crowling. But after winning a couple of games, you should be able to rent him. You only need to rent him for 1 day because, you won't be using him for long. Choose the cheapest Mylor Crowling available and get back to battling again!
The next card you would need would be Wood Nymph. By the time of writing this, it costs around 0.20 DEC, which is pretty cheap.
It has the Heal Tank ability, which would heal your front liner. This is a great ability that would help your tank survive extra shots.
Once, you have Mylor and Wood Nymph, your lineup should look like this:
This would be your staple team until you get your Flesh Golem, aside from Mylor Crowling and the Wood Nymph that you have rented, all other monsters are free.
Depending on the mana available, Mylor, Wood Nymph ,and Stone Golem should be used, and use other monsters as you see fit. My go-to fillers are Goblin Thief, Goblin Sorcerer ,and Failed Summoner.
Now, I will introduce the to Rating and Collection Power.
Rating and Collection Power measures the League you are able to get to.
Rating will increase whenever you win against an opponent at a ranked battle, while Collection Power is the collective power of all the cards you own/rent. For example, the Gold Foil(GF) Mylor has a burn value of 2000, but a normal Mylor Crowling only has a burn value of 40 DEC.
Here's a DEC burning guide for reference:
You could figure out the DEC burn values when you have time, for now, let us focus on what I mentioned earlier.
A Gold Foil Mylor Crowling has a burn value of 2000, and at the moment of writing this article, it costs 6 DEC. Additionally, by the time you have 400 rating, you should have earned around 6 DEC as well. This means it is time to rent a Gold Foil Mylor.
I have 4 reasons for renting Gold Foil Mylor.
First, it will give the required Collective Power to get to Bronze 2. Getting the Gold Foil Mylor, normal Mylor and Wood Nymph will give you a total of 2,055 Collective Power.
Second, a Gold Foil card will give a +10% DEC bonus whenever it is used in battle.
Third, the lowest level available for a Gold Foil Mylor is Level 2. And in Bronze League, the maximum level of a rare summoner is Level 2.
Lastly, getting a Gold Foil Mylor at level 2 will enable you to use level 3 common monsters! Which is our next target to rent, a Flesh Golem at level 3.
A Flesh Golem level 3 has heal which is a good
However, right now, the price of a Gold Foil Flesh Golem is around 17 DEC, so you might need to earn some extra wins before renting him. Or if there are no Flesh Golems available at level 3, you can rent a level 2 Stone Golem instead, it's a good alternative to Flesh Golem. Don't rent a level 2 Flesh Golem, it won't have heal, which is what you want from the Flesh Golem.
After you have rented Mylor, Wood Nymph, Flesh/Stone Golem, you should have an easy time reaching Silver.
Climbing Gold, that's for another post. ;)
