When I Went Outside This Morning...
Wildlife is hibernating. Lots and lots of insects and frogs, and who knows what else, are out there in your garden overwintering in leaf litter, on twigs, even in the top layer of soil. What happens when you "clean up" the leaves and chop down the plants? You might be tossing out a black swallowtail chrysalis or a mantis egg case, or stepping on a mourning cloak butterfly.

beauty once again..I love it..cold, crisp and clean with a brand new beauty. Nature knows what it is doing. However daylight saving. what are we saving. a day is a day is a day. 24 hours. the sun rises and then it sets. summer is longer and winter is shorter. Such wacko ideas to make the blanket longer. Ship of fools. Lets get a studio girl for your photos.
Thank you for always supporting my photography Marion <3 <3 <3
I have an eye for beauty
Wow, finally the wintery pictures I've been waiting for!
49.5 WTF!? Are you in denial about turning 50? 😂
You're right babe hoarfrosts are just amazing, we haven't had one here since 2010 but it was so beautiful.
Great pics Lyndsay ❤️
BWA HAHHAHAAAA!!!!! Yes, I am in denial hahhaaa~!!!!!
You haven't had hoarfrost in 7 years??? WOW!! That's a long time. ... I always thought we had kind of similar climates, but you must be a lot warmer than us.
We get regular frosts but it's been a long time since the last hoarfrost, it was amazing though. The hills around here and all the vegetation/trees looked frozen in time.
My goodness where is this place exactly? The beautiful scenenario makes is quite awesome. Nature can not be this cooler. And was this captured by you,?
In Hacketts Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada. These photos were taken this morning and this afternoon by me, yes <3 <3 Thanks for loving them!
Goodness me! its a sad thing we dont have places like this in Africa, this is awesome.
You would like to see it here, but dress warm!
Wow thank you so much, i enjoyed your blog, im following you instantly
Looking nicey-icey there Lyndsay.
Only 15 days until the shortest day now. I always look forward to the winter solstice because then I know every day after that little miss sunshine is going to give my plants a few more of her precious rays every day.
Absolutely @pennsif, counting down these dark days with you <3 <3
Stunning beautiful
Time seems to stand still on a hoarfrosty morning
Love the words of old Indian :-)
Thank you for sharing
By the way, is that red ball in the last photo for a lobster trap?
Thanks so much for feeling the beauty of these moments <3 And for appreciating the Old Indian <3 <3 <3
The ball is a moor I believe. For tying boats to <3
You're welcome! It's a moor. I see.
When's your lobster season? Our blue crab harvest here is peaked in the summer.
Lobster season is all year around here, the zones are what changes. So that the same waters are never overfished.
Very nice! This conservation effort ensures our children and their children will have lobsters, too.
First to comment! Whooo!

Love the low tide pics, the mustard vegetation against the bright white ice is beautiful.
Thank you for appreciating the beauty of our backyard @theferalone <3
I got chills just looking at those frosty photos.
Awesome! That seems like a very serene environment and a great place to live. Cold but cool :)
Shiver me timbers :D Hhahaaaa <3 <3 <3
I love Hoar frost too, Lyndsay! Your frozen sunflower heads are gorgeous!
Thank you Rebecca <3 xo
That 3-dimensional structure is so important for insects and birds. Here's to the unkempt, lol. It's so much more interesting and alive than the manicured! Do you all get pretty good air change every day, so the woodstove smoke doesn't build up in your area?
3 Cheers for the unkempt! Hip hip horray x 3 hahaha!!
We do have a lot of wind here usually, right on the ocean like this, it's pretty pleasant in the summer, it never gets too hot <3 <3
Looks pretty freaking cold!
Just below freezing, so not too bad. In February you will see some nasty weather here!
I should go get winter tires on my car soon! Only a matter of time before we get a snowstorm here in Edmonton!
Ooooh yeah!! AHAHAA get on it eh?!!
I have made a trip without getting up from the chair, haha.
How cool is that, @lyndsaybowes? ;)
Yeah eh? One day you can maybe return the favour :) Take me for a virtual walk <3
It will be a pleasure, @lyndsaybowes. ;)
Have you ever been to Brazil? =)
No I have not, and I would Love to see!
You must put my country on your list of "places to visit" because Brazil is an amazing / beautiful country, @lyndsaybowes.
I'm sure you're gonna love it. ;)
Gray, dreary, damp, and cold. You really captures death in your images..and it is wonderful. Death is part of the cycle of life and, even what appears dead and useless, has purpose in nature. The death is, in essence, helping to create new life which will appear in the spring.
This time is necessary before the time of birth. That is something we dont get to see here so thank you for showing this to us.
Great post.
Thanks for your deep thoughts! <3 <3 <3 I am so happy my photos inspired you Task!
Ww lyndsay soooooo cold!!! Hahaha but so beautiful. I was in Canada in the winter of 1980. It was minus 29 the coldest I I have ever experienced anywhere. It was so wonderful though. The ice crystals in your nose every time you breath! Skidooing over frozen rivers! Just awesome.
Your photos are superb by the way.. always fun on your walks with you.
Yes I have free range crooks on the patio and it's a constant hosing down to keep above the poop situation 😂
I did a walk for tree Tuesday yesterday so a combo of walking and trees 😂 Down by the beach. It was beautiful.

Have a beautiful day my friend and keep warm! ❤️🔥
Oooh awesome, skidooing on frozen rivers, you are a risk taker! That would have been a lot of fun.
I'll go for a walk with you right now, thanks for sending me the blog Sally <3 <3 <3 Hugs, and you stay beautiful xoxo
Ha thanks Lyndsay I do like extreme weather conditions I think. I hope you liked my little walk through the trees. You stay beautiful too xoxo
<3 <3 <3 I really did enjoy your walk, I added it to the #walkwithme post tonight! <3 <3 <3
So, you just gave me a good excuse for not cleaning up my dead plants. Maybe I'll try that.
Great! I sure hope you do David <3 <3 There are many other benefits too >>> https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/18845475/list/7-reasons-not-to-clean-up-your-fall-garden
You have captured the beauty of the nature.
I loved your post.what a cool ,cold.

Thank you @rahulsaini <3
The view of the water in the 10th photo is gorgeous - like a still from a movie! Hope you are wrapped up warm, that ice is giving me the chills!
I'm all wrapped up and warm yes, and the ice melted the next day thank goodness <3 <3 We have had some late fall rains <3 <3 <3
Must be nice to be right on the water like that. I like boating and fishing.
It is really amazing, we used to live in the prairies, in the city too, this is the most peaceful life I've ever lived being out here... <3
I thought it was the mountains you were at then surprised to see the tide lol
You live in a beautiful place....but brrr...the plants look cold. thanks for the walk. 😁
Yeah, it's a lot to deal with, yet it's a nice break from gardening chores, time to relax and do nothing for a few months!
It would be great to read your post.
The Maritimes of Canada, and yes, all captured by me, and my Canon t2i.
