I Had My 2 Best Helpers Home Today

IMG_3597.JPG

The roads were way too icy in the morning, so we hung out and made cookies. They wanted white chocolate chip/oatmeal/raisin cookies ... I didn't object.

IMG_3587.JPG

They're so great at measuring...

IMG_3588.jpg

Usually. Ooops got a little vanilla on the floor hehehe...

IMG_3589.jpg

And they're also usually really great about cleaning up their own messes. I have competent and capable sons, I'm proud of these dudes every single day.

The Part They Always Fight Over

IMG_3590.JPG

Even though everyone always gets a turn.

IMG_3593.JPG

Nothing beats using the beaters when you're a child. I love how happy they looked.

Almost Done

IMG_3596.JPG

IMG_3599.JPG

IMG_3597.JPG

Boom.

IMG_3600.JPG

Some cookies are more equal than others

IMG_3604.JPG

So I gave Stryder two.

IMG_3602.JPG

By the Afternoon Things Were Melting

IMG_3648.JPG

The icicles on our home will be getting pretty epic soon...

IMG_3645.JPG

We don't have any eavestroughs so the melting snow on the roof does some pretty cool stuff to the plants within dripping distance, as well as growing massive icicles by February all over the edges of the roof.

IMG_3624.JPG

Kiedis was digging "igloos" into the snowbanks. Stryder running around inadvertently scaring the poor chickens. Chickens...what aren't they afraid of? No one ever wants to be called a chicken.

IMG_3618.JPG

Whom are you calling a chicken? I was merely running in the opposite direction because there was a very important matter I had to attend. Thank You, Good Day.

And yes, @karencarrens, that is little Parker...I know, he's really blossomed into a beautiful cockerel, and looks so different now, but that's your little man :) :) :) Trust me, we only have 4 roosters. I can't get em mixed up :) :) :)

IMG_3643.JPG

The Igloo

Treat time for the Gals

IMG_3606.JPG

And as usual, everyone's allowed to eat except...

IMG_3607.JPG

Poor Big Smokie...on the outside, looking in...one day he will have ladies of his own, until then, Mr. Pendock makes sure he doesn't even try to help feed anyone. Feeding the #chickenbitchez is Mr. Pendock's job and he takes it very seriously. He doesn't need a rookie like Smokie fucking it all up.

Chicken Rugby

IMG_3617.JPG

This is where someone finds a golden treat in the compost bowl that I give them once a day. Today the golden treat is a stale bun. They will fight over this until the whole thing is gone.

One gal will have it, but she needs to set it down to take a bite, and as soon as she sets it down, another hen snatches it and runs off to a place where she thinks she'll be able to set it down...and so on and so forth.

Magical pictures babe.
Seeing your lads cooking with you gives me very fond flashbacks of cooking with my Mom back in the early 1970's.
It's a great thing to teach kids the art of providing home made food. Especially cookies 😃
You're a great Mom Lyndsay 😉

Sounds like you have a really great Mom too Percy! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 She raised a strapping Lad!!

Hey @lyndsaybowes first of all those cookies look amazing!! and secondly your yard is really starting to resemble an ice skating rink .. I would love a skate lol :)

Seriously though it looks as though you have a stunning winter wonderland. Absolutely magical pictures! I've still got my fingers crossed we get some snow .. until then your pictures are giving me my much needed snow fix :D

I hope you do get some more snow before winter is over, are you growing tired of the Fog yet?

I have my fingers crossed, and no fog for a few days .. although I'd best not speak too soon! :D

I have to commend your sons for one thing: The LOVE of raisins! I have always loved raisins in things and alone and even as a child often found other children did not. Even as an adult I often get 'the face' if I suggest raisins in things. I also love old timey boiled sweets/ribbon candy and fruit cake. But, I've been an old granny since I was two, so there you go. Well done your kids for being raisin positive.

Isn't it funny how it never gets old watching chickens play the "I have the coveted treat therefore I shall run about squawking and drawing attention to it, even though I want it for myself?" It always makes me laugh. Most Chicken antics do make me laugh.

My broody hen has already dropped the ball in motherhood, however, as I put some quail eggs under her to give her a go and she left the nest and decided to sit on some other eggs the chickens had laid, fickle! But, she is a new hen so I'll cut her some slack.

Lovely photos as always. It does often look like round here and wonder if I might walk outside and see you poking about with your camera, but alas you are far away up the coast.

Happy days, and think "Melt" and "Spring", It's my morning mantra!

YAY little old Granny when you were Two hahahahaa that paints the cutest damn image...

Totally yes about the "squawking and drawing attention to it" hahaha, not very stealth at all! Sorry to hear about your teenage mother broody...that sucks.

I feel the same when I see photos of your icebergs...we have such similar terrain...all that divides us is an invisible boarder <3 <3 <3

You DEFINITELY live on the RIGHT side of that border, that is for sure. When I travel overseas sometimes I just say, "I'm Canadian" it's just easier, who wants to be an American?

What a lovely activity to do at home! We never have the problem of ice and snow as we live in Bangkok, but during April it gets so hot we often have to stay inside. I remember eyeing up my mum's electric beaters as a child, it was always my favourite part to have a go with those! My son and I will have to do some home baking, he is always keen to try science experiments and I often find him mixing up different liquids in the bathroom!

HAHA right on @theexplorer! I'm very familiar with boys' experiments...most of my beauty products have become them haha!!

That's great that you're instilling such a love of cooking in the boys.

My mother was a great cook but for some reason I never caught her spark. Always happy to appreciate someone else's efforts, though.

Awwww....I hope my boys keep it up!

Those two helpers made the best cookies in the whole world. yummy :))

You have trained your sons very well! You must be very proud of them. It's quite an entertainment to watch chickens running around and fighting for food. At the end, everyone gets a few bites. :-)

HAHAA Thank you for your approval in their training @cheneats!! :D :D xoxo

Imma need to come over and inspect those cookies to make sure they're safe next time...

You would have loved them, all gone now unfortunately. Do you guys need any eggs?

Always a good idea, yeah I'd love to buy a doz :) Gotta get baking some cookies! I have a strrrooonnggg hankering for some now, haha

You can just have some eggs, we have a surplus right now :) <3 <3 Pick em up any ol' time.

@lyndsaybowes ...is this 2 chef your champ? I am captivated by them, I see they are very smart to make a cake .. hehe
I want to taste homemade
I have fallen in love with these two chefs, besides being good at cooking them very handsome ..IMG_3600.JPG
I want to meet and cook the cake with them ,, I really hope someday I can walkwithme with you.
I also see chicken in your photo very healthy, different from the chicken that is in my house, they are thin... :)

Our hens need all the feathers they can get, but under the feathers, they are very small and thin animals. I'm glad you love my two best helpers. Thank you for this meaningful comment @lidiasteem :)

:D means the chicken is fat because its fur ...
I am very happy today, 8 chicks I hatched this morning, and I have immortalized my chick photos, in my opinion they are very cute...
you are welcome @lyndsaybowes :)

Aww, congrats on your new baby chicks!

Sure looks pretty today, even if it is cold and slippery. Those cookies look amazing. Great Chefs. I think you still need to rent them out! They even cleanup! Wow!

Oh Smokie 😍 I really like the chickens with the pouffs on their heads! Oh my, they are the cutest. I hope the icy weather is better today, although the ice makes everything soooo pretty! Plus you get to keep those cutie cookie makers at home😉

Kiedis and Stryder , great job!! :) that's great to see how your children learn to bake cookies so fast and they're doing it perfect! :) great photoshoots and funny Chickens :)))

Do you bake at all Davood?

Children who are diligent especially smart make cakes very happy, love of children can not be replaced, they are happiness hearts and treasures of the most valuable.

We made cookies yesterday too. 😊
And I'm gonna need a gif of chicken rugby. That sounds highly entertaining! 🤣🤣

I took a short video today of chicken rugby, it was kind of a shit match though...

A great home you have there looks so relaxing, also very good photos.

Thank you so much for liking our day :)

wow,so so yummy! filled my mouth with water...
HaHaHa
very nice capturing and the fight is too good of hens ,it could be be a story too on their fight and we can take that pictures as story theme.and the name should be "Fight for the RIGHT"

I love it, Fight for the RIGHT hahhaha! :) Good one @nee-belovedofart.

Your post really speaks about life and living it with a smile. Your beautiful boys are lucky in their nurturing. The eye of the photographer provides us with a look in on lives being lived in a happy space, full of warmth even on the coldest of days :)

Thank you so much, I'm happy you feel the love in our home <3

Look at your lovely sons, good job with the cookies, they looked great.
Like what you said about chickens, they are pretty fearless indeed, wonder where that saying came from about being a chicken.

Boys - mother's little helpers and a mother's pride. The cookies look delicious. Yum-yum :) . I see that you are all together well spend Your day. Chicken Rugby is fun. Thank you for the pleasant walk.

Do your chickens play rugby too? I think the answer is yes.. <3

hahaha! Of Course, Yes! But still they have a favorite game - " well ka take away ". This is how someone first takes liver from our rabbit. They run after him and try to take away his favorite cookie.

Hallo @lyndsaybowes Little chefs....... Glad they can offer a helping hand. The icicles hanging on your roof creates a beautiful picture and the chickens...... Hahaha, they are a funny lot. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for loving my little chefs, and chickens xo :)

Our kids are always a source of joy to us and oh they always do cute things (plus all the mess they make). Your chickens always make me green with envy, poor big smokie should be pitied by his folks ,I feel his 'pain'......lols. The melting ice and the icicles are a beauty to behold
And yes...... No one wants to be called a chicken. Thanks for the wonderful pictures.

Thank you, as always, for your great comment @edith4angelseu <3 <3

Hopefully they were saving their appetite for later!

Can’t make any promises.... but I might have a unique walkwithme blog for you on the weekend!

Loved seeing the kids in the kitchen! The snow and ice you can keep ;-)

Oh comon now, you're hurting my feelings, why don't you want some of my snow and ice? ahhahahahaa :)

OOoh that is NOT a sight for sore eyes!!

Nice post, I'm getting cold just looking at all those chickens out in that weather, don't know how they handle it!!!

They're tough assed #chickenbitchez that's how! hahahaha!!

"Chicken rugby" I love it! My favorite shots are of the ice melting off of the plants. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hhahaa, have you seen chickens do this before?

Never have I seen chickens do this. I would highly suggest you invest in some crocheted team jerseys so we can keep up with who's winning!

Beautiful pictures. I love seeing a family working together.

Thanks very much @bowentroyer :)
