The state tests of the new Ukrainian VILKHA 300mm guided rockets were carried out today in the Odesa region.
According to Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, the current tests are “the final stage of a large-scale project of Ukrainian scientists, designers and manufacturers”.
“Thanks to the efforts of all those who worked on this project, we received powerful missilery, which in all respects is better than the Russian analog “Smerch”,
The VILKHA is a 300mm guided rocket was developed by the Luch engineering bureau in cooperation with other Ukraine defence industrial companies. The rocket has a solid motor and can be armed with various types of warheads. It has so-called inertial correction system, which provides for angular stabilization of the round at the boost phase and flight.
The new system can deliver strikes as far as 50-300km with a high degree of precision. The new rockets were launched from a 9K58 self-propelled launcher.
