Hobby Update
Hello everyone!
After my exam period, a trip to Italy (combining a wedding (no, not mine!) and some vacation) and a visit in my hometown are over, I think I should take some time and keep you up to date.
First: GW Painting Contest aka Crazy Painting Challenge - the result
I went to the GW store and was surprised that the GW employee handed my the following prize:
I reached the third place with some other guy - we both had the same score. I got a 10€ voucher and some beautiful Age of Sigmar artworks:
(Sorry for the perspective - but I had the artworks laying on a chair)
My favorite is the blue one on the lower right side.
Second: A new project - Armies on Parade
So what the heck is this Armies on Parade thing? It is another contest at the Games Workshop Store. One has the possibility to present its army - it has to fit into an area of a specific size. One can also create a display board for the miniatures - of course no larger then the specific size. At my local store I was told that I need to have at least one leader and two minimum sized standard troops to enter.
(This link contains an explanation, too - it takes you away from steemit)
So now that you all know what Armies on Parade is I want to tell you my thoughts so far. No surprise here - I am going to display my tyranids. I plan on making a display board too. So far I have some draft images on paper fitting my display case. The board will be jungle themed - my first attempt had two small ruins, a second thought was modeling a brood pool instead and my current idea is to take one small ruin and put it on a small hill. Maybe I include a little lake.
Anyway I'll keep you informed.
Third: Decorative resin pyramid project
Quite some time ago a friend of mine made a decorative pyramid out of resin (in the style of an orgonite). I wanted to have my own pyramid, too and started watching a lot of videos on that resin casting topic very soon. But no spoilers now - if I ever manage to finish this project I'll let you know :)
Fourth: Killteam Broodforce Rotah
To keep it short: I was persuaded to try Killteam - and participate at the Killteam campaign at my local store... Start date is the 15th of September. No surprise that I chose my tyranids from hive fleet Rotah to form a team...
So far I had only a couple of games with basic rules. I won against some catachan guys twice - they were really tasty nom nom - but lost the two games against grey knights. They were so damn strong... I really have to continue practicing a lot to get to know all the rules and so on as I do not have experience in actually playing any Warhammer tabletop game.
Have a great time!
