Unit #4: Mad Donna Ulanti - finished

MadDonnaUlanti_Intro.jpg

Hello everyone!

As I promised: Mad Donna Ulanti. I hope you are not to disappointed that I did not use the classic painting scheme for her / House Escher.

I chose this miniature because I just liked the look of her. Before starting to paint I read a little about her background story.
Short: She is mad. She belongs to House Escher. She is mad.
A little longer: As a daughter of a noble house she should be married off for political reasons. She was kept in a small tower for years to keep her pure. Finally a dinner was arranged with her future husband - Donna managed to kill both the future husband and the guards and escaped. She ended up as a member of the Escher gang. After some time she left them and "drifted around, running with Outlaws near the White Wastes".

So what was my inspiration / intention:

First the inspiration:

Second the intention:
The guy from the Games Workshop store told me, that the original Mad Donna had very light pink hair and a pale skin. This was something I wanted to do on my model, too - although I wanted the skin to be less pale then on e.g. the Banshee. Also he said that her weapons were yellow black striped (or dotted? - can't remember exactly and I found different versions online). I did not want to achieve this in the first place - but I liked the gray weapons and came up with the Idea to make the plasma (?) yellow to still have the yellow part and I painted some yellow hearts and crosses on the sword. And although I favored the blue haired "zombie" Ulanti, I thought that it would not fit for me. The punk one is great and so I tried to achieve something similar. But due to her being mad I used multiple colors. I guess she still looks very punky but not that mad :/

Anyway I am happy with the result on the whole. I whished I managed to have her hair much lighter and the color transition would be more noticeable.

For the curios ones:

My unit for this painting period is good old Sly Marbo. I did not manage to get the new model in december as it was limited and my local store did not receive one. But happily I (or my boyfriend?) bought the old one during a Made to order "event" sometime last year. He gets the same jungle bases theme as my tyranids do.

Greetings
~ Tami
