The Tryvale Bore - Underground Water.

in #water7 years ago

Brahman Cattle are a tough breed, but even these hardy animals need a good drink to cope with the heat and the long trek to watering point. The water on a cattle property comes from either Dams or Bores. This bore is an Artesian Bore, meaning the water is pumped up from the Great Artesian Basin, about 700 metres or more below ground level.

The bore is equipped with a Yanmar Diesel motor that runs at a slow speed. The water is pumped to different paddocks as far a 15 kilometres away , where it fills many tanks and troughs with clean water. The water is a little salty, contains lots of dissolved minerals, and is slightly alkaline. The cattle love to drink it. The bore and pump are in an enclosed shed with gates around it to stop animals from getting inside.Nikon 012.JPGNikon 014.JPGNikon 013.JPG

Sort:

700 metres that is quite deep,by the way

Yes, it's deep, but some Artesian Bores are over 1 km deep.

that seems pretty interesting :0

Do you drink the same water?

Bore water is drinkable, but rainwater is better.

This is great information about Brahman Cattle. I dint't knew that water on a cattle property comes from either Dams or Bores. Thanks for sharing it. :)

Never heard of this species before, they look kinda funny. Are they considered to be of the cows species?

@ctrl-alt-nwo - Sir, how can you pump water for 15km away tanks. You are doing amazing work Sir. Love your work. Therefore, I wish to ReSteem your post.

By the picture it looks like the pumped up water just flows along the ground until it gets to where it has to go. Don't you lose a lot of water seeping back in the ground that way? Or am I not seeing the picture right and there are pipes for the water to move through.

Yeah there are pipes underground. The water you see flowing is the overflow because the bore is under it's own pressure and leaks out the top, but this water goes into the nearby dam.

Cool, you even save the overflow with a dam. Nothing wasted.

that was great arrangement made thanks for sharing about it :)

Congratulations
