How to help save the planet Earth
1
Save water at home. Wasting water is one of the most harmful ways to impact the health of the planet. Making the decision to use less water is something you can do right away. If you live in an area where water is scarce, this decision will be even more important for the health of the environment in your region. Try to practice as many of the points listed below:
Check and fix any water leakage. A dripping faucet could waste a lot of water.
Installs water-saving devices in faucets and toilets. A low flow hand shower could be a good first step.
Do not wash the dishes with the faucet open continuously. Use a method that requires less water to wash dishes.
Turn off the washer water supply to prevent any water leakage. It does not need to be on all the time.
Change old toilets for newer ones that use a lot less water.
Wash and dry only loads filled with dirty laundry or dishes. Washing half of a load wastes water.
Do not water the lawn with too much water.
When you brush your teeth, do not leave the faucet open.
2
Use less chemicals. The chemicals we use to clean our bodies, houses, cars and everything else go down the drain or are absorbed by the lawn and eventually end up in the water supply. Because most people use very strong chemicals for all sorts of things, chemicals are a real danger to waterways and aquatic life. Chemicals are also not good for humans, so do your best to reduce their use. You can do the following:
Find out about the alternatives of household cleaning products that do not contain hazardous chemicals. For example, for basic cleaning work, using a solution of ½ white vinegar and ½ of water works just like most commercial cleaners. Baking soda and salt are also non-toxic, inexpensive cleaners.
When there are no good alternatives to a toxic product, use the minimum amount required for a hygienic and effective result.
Instead of using shampoos and soaps full of chemicals, try doing them yourself.
Instead of using pesticides or herbicides, look for natural methods to get rid of weeds and pests.
3
Get rid of toxic waste immediately. Paint, car oil, ammonia, and many other chemicals should not be put into the drain or grass because they will moisten the soil and end up in the groundwater reservoirs. Get in touch with your community health department to find out where the nearest toxic waste dump is.
4
It helps to identify water pollutants. People only have limited capacity to keep the water clean. Usually the culprits of water pollution are businesses and industries. In order to protect the world's water, responsible citizens must make their voices heard and find ways to stop pollution.
Join an environmental group in your community who works to clean the water in your area, whether it is a river, a lake or the sea.
Get in touch with representatives of your locality to express your views on the importance of keeping water free of chemicals.
Volunteer to help clean the beaches or river banks.
