Day 1 of My Water Fast Completed

in #waterfast7 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon, Steemians!

As you may or may not know, yesterday at roughly 4:30 PM I ate my last meal of pasta and curried veggies before the water fast I'm currently doing. I honestly don't know how long I'm going to do this at this point in time but would like to shoot for anywhere from 5-10 days. Here is the original post in case you want to know more about why I'm fasting.

Here is my journal of sorts from today from the time I woke up to 4:41 PM, the current time I'm making this post.

Day 1

6:52 AM: I woke up this morning extra early for some reason; maybe the anticipation of not eating any food. I feel a little bit more tired than usual, but I'm going to try to not go back to bed until tonight. Another thing I'm noticing is that right away this morning I am feeling hunger, but not true hunger. I'm feeling this hunger right now because my last meal was so much food that is stretched my stomach a lot, leaving me now with the illusion of hunger.

10:43 AM: A little tired from not sleeping enough last night, but positive in terms of my attitude. Stomach growled maybe an hour ago, so I drank some water. Feeling fine.

12:48 PM: Feeling really good now, no tired feeling! Took cold shower. I added some turmeric and black pepper to my water for the rest of the day. More than 20 hours without food right now. I have a small lethargic high going right now. Not hungry though.

2:34 PM: Laid down and closed my eyes for about 20 minutes, felt really good to do this. Slight headache from (likely) not having my caffeine fix this morning. I’ve gone through caffeine withdrawals, like I said in my last post, and they aren’t fun. Usually subsides on or after day 3 of no caffeine. Getting close to the 24-hour mark! Roxana made dinner for herself, which I will show you here:

It really wasn't too hard to be around her with food. I would imagine that in a few days it will be, though.

A part of me wants to eat but to be 100% honest I’m not even hungry right now! Weird!

4:45 PM: It’s been 24 hours now since my last meal. I do have a small headache still from caffeine withdrawals, which I anticipated I would. I’m in a really mellow mood, still kind of in that high from this morning. I think it’s only going to get better from here on out. I did weigh myself just for curiosity but only weighed 2/10 of a pound lighter. I think this is due to my body currently holding a lot of water.

I'm sweating less than I normally would, even out in the hot sun. I haven't had a BM today. I want to continue this.

I just took this photo moments ago to show you that I'm alive and well and in good spirits :D

I'm not a doctor, nor do I claim to be. This is for educational purposes only. Fasting can be dangerous if not done properly. If you are planning to do your first water fast, please do your homework and read up on it as well as watching some video documentation that's out there.

Thanks for stopping by, Steemians!

Good stuff, I hope to do this one day, I have already gone through caffeine withdrawal and it was hell!! At the moment I am fasting 18 hours a day, which feels good for me and no wheat, meat or dairy. I wish you well on your journey x

:) It was worse before when I used to drink 2 cups a day. At least I'm going off caffeine after only having drunk 1 cup a day for the past year or so. Wow that's awesome! You just do one meal a day? Great that you aren't eating meat or dairy, I commend you :) I wish you well too! Good luck!

I eat fruit and 1 meal so it doesn't feel too bad :)

Couldn't do it. Good luck with your bms lol

Haha thanks man :) You could too!

Good luck! I love water fasting for getting healthier, detoxing, and for spiritual purposes. The longest I've done so far is 3 days though. Whats the longest fast you have completed before this one?

When I was in high school a friend of mine and I did the "Master Cleanse", you know lemons, maple syrup and cayenne pepper water... I think we did 7 days. That was not a good idea lol. Other than that I can't remember to be honest. It's been a long time.

Nice! why was it not a good idea? haha

I was probably 16 when I did it and I did it while at school and stuff. Totally gave me a buzzkill to be around certain people doing it.

Looks like you're doing great so far! Barring the caffeine withdrawal symptoms, of course. Not sure if I would be strong enough to be around the good food and not eat it lol. Thanks for the update!!

Yeah it wasn't too bad :)
