A bit is very much an understatement in this case.

I think it is a bit inherent to social media. Or even human behavior at the base of it. People will always go for the best return on investment. Their time being the investment, and the return, your vote value, your content, the amount of others you can influence via your followers, or the position you have in the tribe.

I can describe this in three words. Disgusting, greed, selfishness.

Most people on this platform is so focused on the monetary aspect that literally this is how they ruin this platform.

There are very little (or no) real followers (people, who really, actually, genuinely care about the content) on this platform.

99% of the Hive blockchain users care only about their own gain.

There are other, properly working social networks, where I (and many other people) happily post, because people there actually care about the content (for example Facebook groups).

There are definitely many of those, no doubt. There are also those that are in it for the game, for the social aspect and the content. And there’s also a group inbetween, that are in it for the social aspect, and the gains, and to share those gains. I count myself in that group. I want to gain HP, because I know that the mor zo have, the more I can share with many others. And while this may just be some happy Pennie’s for me, the upvotes I can give, can really make a difference for some people (and this is not a guess, this is what I’ve heard from some of those people).
In every system where there is something to gain, there will be bad people abusing that system for their own betterment.
I pity them, because they poor souls and poor lives!
