Those numbers is the count of Comments and Waves done by those accounts.

Aside from from being active on wave, publishing your articles through the ecency fronted also helps to increase your activity numbers, commenting on people's posts, would also help you increase your numbers 😉.

So now you get it, it doesn't have to be wave alone, voting is also another way to increase your activities.
