In Japan it’s not bad, national insurance covers 70% but there is a lot of unnecessary treatment (poor massages and unnecessary multiple visits) so taxes keep rising. Also they aren’t always good at discovering the problem. America is similar without national insurance. Good for emergencies but will put you deep into debt
I think japans long life expectancy is mostly due to good food sanitation and easy access to warm water and refrigeration. They take baths every night and there is almost no food born illness
