i don't think it accounts for steps, but rather, of the amount of activities you do in a day. as long as you're moving
It does count steps. Indeed, the steps counted in the graphics below should be counted in the circle above.
At least your app does count your steps in the graphic, mine doesn't do any of that if the app isn't open.
