That’s the thing, we only really know what we were taught at school. I must confess my knowledge on this topic isn’t a lot. There are a lot of things my country has done, still does today, I’m not proud of. Every nation has a different perspective. I sense this has hit a raw nerve?

No not at all, you are from the UK and you should honor and respect your country. It is your country after all.. You feel the same towards it as I feel about mine.
