I think that the word "any" followed by a plural noun (such as "changes") has an implicit "group of" in between (which makes the phrase "any group of changes"). π€π€―π€
Well, I'd say that is a long-hand way of expressing the same thing. I will pet any cats that come to me sounds a lot better than I will pet any group of cats that come to me. In this case, any is modifying cats in such away that the number of cats is in question, or ambiguous. π π π β¨ π€
