!INDEED that's what I mean. Android itself is open source, but how it's put together into a comercial OS, and used, is not. π π π β¨ π€

I wonder when you would be able to flash a "pure" (fully open-source) Android OS on your phone. π€ππ€

Well, unfortunately I don't think it's possible with this particular phone, since the bootloader is locked. I'd need to buy another phone with an unlocked bootloader, and that is compatible with the mobile network that I use. It's in my mind, so I'll likely start looking soon. I don't like that everything that I do is recored and tracked, which is known to be the case with Google. π π π β¨ π€

Hope that when you get a phone whose bootloader is (or can be) unlocked, you can lock it again after flashing the fully open-source Android OS that you like, and that is for security reasons. π€π€

While it's true that keeping the bootloader unlocked does create an attack vector, I never had a problem with it. As long as unlocking and locking it again did not require a lot of effort, then I'd likely do it. π π π β¨ π€

#GrapheneOS can be installed on phones which allow both unlocking and relocking the bootloader, though only G phones are supported. π€―π€

Indeed, I've heard a lot about GrapheneOS quite a lot lately, though I don't have any experience with it yet. π π π β¨ π€
