OK, you go to your Hive wallet preferably via Peakd.
Click on where your HP is and click "delegate".
You set an amount to delegate to ecency.
Ecency pays a little bit of Hive every day and then you power that up.
I have a lot of HP so I am delegating quite a lot and Ecency will pay me 2 or 3 Hive every day.

Yes. Delegation is like a loan. You still own your own HP, but you are loaning / delegating some of it to another account to use. You can cancel the delegation at any time but it takes a week for the delegation to end.
Some accounts pay you back for your delegation.
