While it's relatively easy to unlock the bootloader, only a few types of smartphones allow (easily) locking them again (one of which is Pixel). π€ Otherwise, it would be very difficult to lock the bootloader again (without the help of a specialist). π€―π

Well, it's easy on some phones. Others require a bit more jumping through hoops. See, I think that any device that we own, we should be able to do with it, and use it, as we want, without having to resort to outside help. π π π β¨ π€

Oh I know, as I always used to specifically buy phones that allowed the battery to be easily changed, so that I always had backup batteries in case the first one died. π π π β¨ π€

Most smartphones nowadays require the assistance of a technician to (forcefully) remove the back cover, carefully remove the old battery and attach a new one, then glue the cover again and wait until it dries up. π€π€―π€
