Not negativity, but a fact. There are many posts with hundreds of upvotes, and 0 comment. This is what the automatic upvoting is doing. People probably do not even read these posts. I also have not read most of them, because they are simply too long.
I sometimes wonder if a real human being is reading my post when I get over 100 upvotes. Do they actually read it? And why don't they give their opinion? Only a few users consistently comment on my posts, while the rest remain invisible.
I have similar experience. Often my posts do not even receive human comments at all.
It's the auto voting bots. 😪
Yes.
Some communities make it compulsory that posts there must be more than 500 word. Then the more words the higher the curation.
This means that quality has no place.
500 Words? That is indeed many. Nowadays my posts are mostly around 200-300 words. This is enough for most posts. I very rarely write more than 500 words in one post. We are not here to write a book, but to write a blog.
That's the trend in Leofinance.
100-300 good enough.
Hive favoured long-form posts, however, it's slowly adapting to shorter-form. Auto-votes/vote-trails are good for curators, yet lack the human touch. Could longer-form content warrant more votes? How do we find the balance if we don't read them?
As I currently see it, currently generally this is the case. Usually they receive more upvotes. But certainly not more readers. Most people do not have the time (and/or attention span) to read them. This is visible in the case of videos too. Many people prefer shorter videos. Probably this is why TikTok is a successful platform.
Yeah it would seem people’s attention spans are lowering a lot, the sloth life is taking over, sitting around scrolling all day not getting anywhere!
That's Proof of Bot in action. Not how this thing was intended to work. Most of my votes are manual.
I also do both. I set automatic upvoting above 90% voting power, so it will not go to waste. Nowadays my upvote is worth around $0.01 USD. Not much, but more than nothing.
I prefer to write comments and mostly upvote by hand. I have a very small curation trail setup
