The Last Supercells To Be Seen In Mexico From USA Before Trump's Wall

in #weather8 years ago (edited)

It is quite well known now that Donald Trump wants to build a wall along the US/Mexico border. For many people, it is my assumption that the thought is that the US/Mexico border is a terrible, ugly, scary place. While this may be true in some areas closer to large cities (like El Paso), this does not hold true for the entire US/Mexico border.

At least in parts of Texas, there is beautiful landscape with beautiful views. In the stretch of the border that can be seen in the below picture, all that separates the US from Mexico is a simple barbed wire fence. A full on wall would destroy the views, and destroy the environment.

The photo above was taken near Del Rio, Texas along US-90. This area of the US/Mexico border is quite used for recreational activities. Lake Amistad is nearby, and many people bike and camp around this area. There are many border patrol agents seen when traveling around this area. In fact, there were more border patrol agents than there were civilians. And I did not see any bad hombres while along the border.

In the video below, I've captured footage of the surrounding area. Take a look at what our beautiful border with Mexico provides and make a determination yourself of whether or not we really need that wall.

A little further West from where this footage was taken is Big Bend National Park. A quite remarkable and beautiful place. A wall in this area would be devastating for the beauty and for wildlife. Say no to the wall! America is about tearing down walls and barriers; not building them!

Yeah, it's a beautiful area-- used to go out to Big Bend quite bit, back when I lived in Austin, many moons ago... a friend of mine was living in Study Butte. Gorgeous country.

It really is. I grew up in northern Indiana. And when I lived there, I remember thinking the border was an ugly terrible scary place. Boy was I wrong once I moved to Texas and actually explored it! Thanks for the comment denmarkguy!
