Since it is Labor Day the bus company I use is operating on a Saturday schedule so that meant waking up earlier and walking to Helen Hayes Hospital. I decided to take the longer way because it usually provides me with a more peaceful walk. The other advantage is that in case I'm running behind or the bus is early I can catch it on Chapel St.
The bus shelter at Helen Hayes is behind all the buildings and is adjacent to a couple of parking lots. Immediately west of the bus stop lies a fenced off area that contains a large field, wetland, and some woods. It runs the length of Chapel St and a good portion of Central Highway. I assume that it belongs to the hospital and it used to be farmland.
The water in there treats me to some interesting sights on crisp mornings like today.
