Little Things That Mean A Lot

in #wedding9 years ago (edited)

My name is Lee and I am going to share with you good people at Steemit my little tale about my wedding morning gift.

Well it is nearly five months now since I got married to my beautiful wife. I remember the wedding morning well waking up in that room early morning thinking about the day ahead and excited about seeing my bride to be. Before we planned to get married I never really knew that the bride and groom bought each other gifts for the wedding morning. Good job I found out before the big day. Anyway I had packed my gift off with my wife to open on the wedding morning and her me. Now seemed to be a good time to open my gift. I should have known my gift would be a reflection of her thoughtfulness and how well she knows me. After all I am just a man with geeky hobbies I enjoy. That been photography and vintage cameras. Not only do I collect them I use them. Not valuable many of them but worth something to me. The number of years I have drove her mad testing them out taking snap shots of my wife while out and about. The amount of times she as said "Lee how many old cameras do you need they are taking over". "Will you stop pointing that camera at me". Should have known what I was about to open. Even had I have done it would have blown any expectations out of the water.

Anyone into old cameras will know right away what a lovely camera this is, but that is not why I love it so much. Could have been a pound shop disposable to me. It is because she knows how much I love photography and old cameras. But more so the lengths she went to make it special. From the way she packed it and to the engraved plate on the back. I found out after the lengths she went to get it. See I often visit a vintage camera shop in my home city to whom the staff know me well. She rang them and said my name and asked if they knew me to which they replied "Oh yes Lee who is into Pentax cameras?" She explained her plan to them and that she wanted a camera for me. They explained to her they would not want to send her a Pentax because it could be possible I would already have it but to leave it with them and they would find me the perfect camera. Could not of been more right. She received the camera cleaned and polished to a inch of its life and in the condition it would have been in when new.

End of the day and moral of the story is that it does not really matter the value of a gift, it is about the thought put into it. Far as cameras go I have many cameras and also my pride and joy Leica iiic but this is priceless to me. Not because of what it is and it is beautiful but because it is from my beautiful wife on the best day of my life our wedding day. It is also a reflection of her understanding of me and her thoughtfulness. Its also a reminder of what she means to me and how much I love her so.
