Wednesday Green -

Did King George III stroll down this tree-lined lane nearly 3 centuries ago? Perhaps his beloved Queen Charlotte walked arm in arm with him, enjoying the refreshing coolness of this shaded path.

This peaceful walkway is part of the formal gardens behind Kew Palace, Richmond, Surrey UK. Located in what was then a rural area back in the 1700s, Kew was a favorite countryside retreat where the introspective George spent many happy times with Charlotte and their 15 children.

If you were prominent in public/political life would you want to escape once in a while to a country retreat? Which would you prefer, the excitement, stimulation, and activity of London or the tranquility, privacy and peaceful beauty of the English countryside?

What a beautiful pathway!

Thanks, I thought so too, glad you like it!

First, I would never be prominent in political life because I eschew politics and human government as we know it...

But, while I would enjoy both venues you've described, I would prefer the quiet of the countryside... ;)

@creatr

My sentiments exactly!
