Wednesday Walk: The courtyard and ponds outside my office

in #wednesdaywalk6 years ago

I took a mini stroll at lunch hour today. It was beautiful, but there was a brisk breeze and I was not able to be out for long. Winter ebbs away slowly in Minnesota, and as you will see from my pictures, there is still a bit of snow on the ground here and there. But I felt so happy being outdoors. It is glorious when the ice finally melts and we can venture out!

Come on along. I will take you on my little walk.

Thank you to @tattoodjay for running the #wednesdaywalk contest, and to @elizacheng for running the #makemesmile contest.

My Wednesday Walk

When you step out the door of the office building where I work, this is what you see.

IMG_1878.JPG

I know, it's still a little brown! We won't see green for another month here. But let's take a right and walk along the path a little. Now here's what we see.

IMG_1879.JPG

Beautiful, isn't it? I do love pretty architecture! I'm not sure why the little black chain doesn't go all the way around. Maybe they only want you to fall in if you're in certain places.

Walking a little further, we look back and see both the building to the right and the one where I work to the left. Aren't the lines and angles lovely?

IMG_1880.JPG

Let's continue our stroll around the pond! Soon, when it's a bit warmer, we can sit down and enjoy the view from one of the benches.

IMG_1881.JPG

Aww! Someone made a cute rock formation.

IMG_1886.JPG

Okay, here's what I really wanted to show you. Yesterday this pond was half covered in a thin sheet of ice. Today, that little patch is all that's left. And as I mentioned, there are still some snow patches.

IMG_1884.JPG

More snow!

IMG_1888.JPG

Now we are at the far end of the pond. Looking straight back, you can see my building and its reflection. My office is smack in the middle of the building on the second floor from the top. I have a lovely view of the ponds from up there, and I take pictures of them all the time. Up until recently they were completely frozen.

IMG_1887.JPG

Okay, time to head back in! But wait, what's this? Is it...?

IMG_1890.JPG

Yes, it is. Ducks! Just before heading back into the building, I spotted a charming mallard couple swimming along together. And that really made me smile.

Thanks for taking a Wednesday Walk with me!

I have Made a note, and the Minnesota flag is yours!
I wil keep you posted for the result

Wonderful! We do have quite a few awesome Steemians here. In fact they just held a local meetup. (Turns out I missed it because I was on vacation.)

The one in San Fransico with Marianne west? Or am i cofused, i went to the Germany meet up in Aachen that was really fun too.

@mariannewest is in San Diego. 😁 No, the meetup I’m talking about was in Minneapolis Minnesota. We have them about once a year.

Ok and next week austin has one too, youahve such a huge country

Good things come to those who wait!

I know that Minnesota is absolutely stunning in the later spring/early summer... well even in the fall with her colors. You are a little bit later to the party, but, I would venture to say that you are fashionably late! and that what you have comes slowly so that you may enjoy it!

It was a wonderful walk and thank you for taking us with you!

!tip

Well we certainly enjoy the nice weather to its fullest when it comes!

Isn't that the truth? I'm so glad that you get a piece of the pie!

That’s an amazing looking bulding and courtyard

Hey you @d00k13! Glad to see you around outside of the videos! Haha. Hope you are doing well with the lack of smoke. So very glad to see you.
Ren

Still working on it! Thanks for the support 💝

Thanks, @d00k13! I will be strolling there a lot as the weather warms.

It’s a good idea and looks as if it can be quite enjoyable 😎

Some beautiful architecture and landscaping. They really paid a lot of care in the construction. Lovely.

Great to see you, @prydefoltz! I hope all is well with you. Thank you so much for visiting my post!

Thanks, Jayna. I am good. I have finished up a second novel to a series I have been working on. #wisp and am now querying agents. Almost done and so I hope to be more involved on steem again. Posted yesterday:)

That's fantastic! Oh, the only way to complete big projects like that is to really lock on and give it everything you've got. Otherwise projects can drag on for years and you can lose momentum. Congrats on getting two completed!

The buildings are pretty nice, I like how they reflect each other, and that 3rd picture really catches the eye. Ducks, we went on a hope for early birds hunt today, but none yet, we still have a bit of snow left and muddy season is still upon us as the snows continue their rapid meltdown.

Yes, I think winter is lingering in many places this year! I will not be surprised if we get another snowfall. It often happens here in April.

What a cool office building and landscaping. I'm glad we don't get snow in San Antonio, these people can't drive on a dry street! 👍

Ha ha ha. Inclement weather is disastrous if you're not used to it!

Wow! Beautiful place. I can't wait to see it in the spring. I have heard the winters are long and harsh there, but are totally worth it in the spring and summer. Thanks for sharing your walk with us.

Yes, some winters are worse than others. This was a rough one. Extreme cold, lots of ice, and a huge amount of snow. It’s keeps the population down. 😁

We are hoping to get some countries in Minnesota in a year during the summer. We have a friend who lives in the state and she said it is wonderful.

I love living here! There are just a few months when it’s pretty tough. A lot of people leave for a portion of the winter.

Wow! Your office surrounding is beautiful... Serene environment... Love the stone photo... The one with the building reflection is beautiful too.

Thank you, @elizacheng. That reminds me. I need to add my link to the comments on your Make Me Smile post. (But I may have missed the deadline....)

What a lovely setting for an office park. Great for lunchtime walks and so lucky to have that view from your office. I can quite understand why you take photos from the window.

I do feel blessed. We only just moved to this building in January, so the only season I have seen it in is winter, with everything blanketed in snow and ice. I look forward to enjoying it more as the warm seasons unfold. Thank you for visiting and commenting!

They managing where you fall ;p
Maybe where the ducks don't swim hahaha
thank you for taking us on your walk ;D

Ha ha, I’m glad you got a laugh out of that!

Wonderful @jayna. When I was in St. Louis the building I worked in was similar in a lot of ways, a pond, waterfalls, snow, ice, wide walking paths. Now, the hills around our valley some still getting snow, and the red rock. I don't dare go for a walk around where I work now, it's not safe. We find needles in our yard all of the time.

Oh my. That would be be challenging, to not be able to get outside and enjoy fresh air!

@jayna,

Beautiful pics ... and what a wonderful work environment.

Thank you, @quillfire. It really is. I marvel at its beauty every day.

There's something about when the sun comes out in the North that makes us have to get outside and enjoy...even if it's otherwise way too cold! It's nice to see a fellow Northerner in the PHC group! I'm in Ohio myself. :-)

Ah yes, relatively speaking we are practically neighbors! 😆

That is a beautiful workspace. What is your day job?

Thanks, @mariannewest! I am in marketing. I do blogs, social media, and all that fun stuff. 😁

Posted using Partiko iOS

Oh, good stuff. We should all learn from you.

What a lovely walk and to see the slow awakening of Spring. I also love the reflections of the building in the water!
Blessings!

Thank you, @papilloncharity. The awakening of spring is slow here but I guess that makes us appreciate it all the more!

Snowww, Snowww Everywhere. It reminds of a T.V. show I love named Fargo which is shooted in Minnesota if I'm not mistaken. Beautiful place for sure. Best Regards.

I loved that movie! Fargo is is North Dakota, but I think the film was primarily made in Minnesota.

Oh hooray! Thank you so much, @steemitbloggers!

Nice place, @jayna. The buildings and their surroundings look amazing.
And you still have snow. 😱 I'm sure though the Spring is about to make its presence felt. 🙂

Hi @roxy-cat! We have to wait until May to plant because we can still get snow all through April. All the garden centers explode with activity when May finally comes!

That looks like a beautiful stroll. It was a nice day here in Pennsylvania, but it got cool in the evening. We're inching our way into spring, as well.

It’s so hard to be patient!

Posted using Partiko iOS

Yes it is. I'm so ready for God's season.

@jayna, very amazing photos of the buildings.

Thanks so much! I do love how they reflect in the ponds.

Posted using Partiko iOS

What a lovely place to enjoy and take in the scenery! Lovely pictures as well ^_^

Thank you, @foxy-spirit! I will capture new pictures when the leaves a grass turn green and it will be even prettier. Thanks for going on the walk!

Posted using Partiko iOS

I noticed there is still a bit of snow left. Finally the snow is going away! We still have lots here but it is melting. Im grateful for the melt :p

I bet it's very pretty with the leaves grown in. A nice sight to see!

Thanks so much for taking us along on this lovely walk! I hear you on the snow patches - we still have a fair amount here in New Hampshire. LOVE the way you framed the building shots, and the ducks were a nice surprise. Also...

What a beautiful area by your office by your office nice to see the snow and ice melting away
Your comment about only wanting you to fall in at certain spots gave me a chuckle

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip

Thank you for the inspiration! Yes, the last bits of snow and ice are a good sign. Some of the mid-sized lakes and channels are still covered in ice.

MY Pleasure i love seeing all the walks it’s like a virtual world tour every Wednesday :)

great photos and I am so happy the weather is good... walking puts you back in touch with nature.

It truly does! It forces you to slow down and see your surroundings.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Looks like a great place to go for a walk in

Yes, it’s lovely, and will get even better as the grass turns green and the buds come out and turn to leaves.

Posted using Partiko iOS

looks very peaceful there @jayna, nice photos as well!

It is indeed peaceful. I may have to bring my laptop out there to work when it really gets warm!

Posted using Partiko iOS

Oh you have a nice office location. There are just other buildings and roads next to my office. Much too expensive for parks.

Posted using Partiko Android

I love it. I’ve never worked at a place with such beautiful surroundings before.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Your office looks like a great building and if you're by the window, perfect! Where I used to work, I was right in the middle of a big open plan office where people could see me hang out in discord all day long 🤣

Thanks for sharing 🙂

Posted using Partiko Android

Ha ha, yeah I couldn’t get away with that. I might sneak in the occasional check on Steem and Discord during the day on my phone. But not only am I also in a big open office plan, but I have way too much to do! 😆

Posted using Partiko iOS

Oh yea, there is the whole "work" element of it too! Forgot about that :D

Pesky old work!!
