Wednesday Walk: along the wall of the Grand Palace, เดินเลาะริมกำแพงพระบรมมหาราชวัง

This is my entry for #wednesdaywalk created by @tattoodjay, but he is taking a short break from the digital world at the moment. I am also thinking of taking some time off to concentrate on my pressing tasks in my 3D reality. Today I am sharing my quiet walk along the wall of the Grand Palace during the lockdown in Bangkok. I took the express boat to Ta Chang Pier, the nearest pier to the Grand Palace. I could glimpse the top of the Grand Palace from the boat.

The atmosphere around the pier was very quiet as there were no Chinese tourists like last year. The shops were all closed while the road was quite empty.

The old tamarin trees line the footpath on the opposite side of the Palace Wall. These are more than fifty years old trees which may need to be replaced by young trees in the future. Their branches could be broken easily by strong wind from the river. Some have to be propped by by metal poles.

There are several squirrels on these trees and local people pin fruits on tree trunk so that these squirrels could eat in safety.

This walk along the wall at the back of the Palace made me wonder about the lives of those people who lived and worked in the royal courts where they had assured security till their old age. The sudden shock of the overthrow of the Monarchy meant that hundreds of people became unemployed and homeless. They were left to the mercy of their fate. I once knew an old lady in her nineties who went through that period; she was rescued by an old Princess who found herself a new residence. There were so many historical stories of ordinary people which we would never find recorded in any books. This walk made me reflected on the future of the country and the fate of ordinary working people. We are just pawns in the power games of the elites and globalists.

เราลงเรือที่ท่าช้างแล้วเดินออกมาที่ถนนใหญ่ บรรยากาศที่นั่นเงียบกริบ ไม่มีนักท่องเที่ยวชาวจีนแม้แต่คนเดียว ร้านค้าปิดกันหมดและถนนก็แทบจะไม่มีรถวิ่ง เราเดินเลาะไปตามทางเดินตรงข้ามกำแพงวัง ต้นมะขามที่เรียงรายตามทางอายุมากกว่าห้าสิบปี ดูแล้วใกล้หมดสภาพ เขาต้องเอาเหล็กมาดามต้นไม้ เพื่อกันล้มตอนมีลมกระโชกแรงมาก เราเห็นกระรอกหลายตัวบนต้นไม้ บางตัวลงมากินผลไม้ที่คนเอามาให้กินที่ต้นไม้

เราเดินไปก็หวนคิดถึงความหลังและชีวิตของคนในประวัติศาสตร์ ในช่วงที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครองจากระบบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์ มาเป็นระบบเลือกตั้งแบบตะวันตกโดยมีผู้นำทหารและตำรวจมาทำให้เกิดประชาธิปไตย เราเคยเจอหญิงชราอายุเก้าสิบกว่าที่ต้องกลายเป็นคนไร้งานไร้ที่อยู่ทันทีที่ทีการปฏิวัติ คนทำงานและข้าหลวงที่เคยอยู่ในรั้ววังมาตลอดชีวิต ต้องกลายเป็นคนสิ้นไร้ไม้ตอกทันที คนที่โชคดีหน่อยก็จะได้รับการเลี้ยงดูจากเจ้านายที่มีทางเอาตัวรอดได้ในขณะนั้น ความผันผวนของชีวิตคนไทยจะเป็นอย่างไร ท่ามกลางเกมส์อำนาจของชนชั้นนำกับกลุ่มที่สนับสนุนให้มีระบบปกครองโลกใหม่ ที่มีรัฐบาลกลางแห่งเดียวที่องค์การสหประชาชาติ มีไอเอ็มเอฟเป็นศูยน์กลางทางการเงิน เพื่อให้ทุกประเทศใช้ธนบัตรและเงินดิจิตอลชนิดเดียวทั่วโลก

ความเป็นเอกเทศหรือเป็นอธิปไตยก็จะหายไปด้วย ประชาคมยุโรปเป็นการนำล่องที่ ทำให้สามสิบกว่าประเทศในยุโรปใช้เงินสกุลยูโรเหมือนกัน และกฎหมายของสภายุโรปมีอำนาจเหนือกฏหมายรัฐธรรมนูญของแต่ละประเทศด้วย เขาเคยพยายามจะให้ทุกประเทศในอาเซียนใช้เงินสดุลเดียวกัน แต่ไม่สำเร็จ ในอนาคตคนไทยและประเทศไทย จะตกเป็นเหยื่อของการล่าอาณานิคมแบบใหม่อย่างเต็มตัวหรือไม่ ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับความรู้เท่าทันของคนไทยนั่นเอง

I could see the river and the Temple of Dawn from my side of road as the car park by the river was empty. I was heading towards a smaller pier called Ta Tian which is opposite the Temple. But the temple right in front of me is Wat Pho or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. All the temples were still under lockdown, so I could take photos outside only.

I seemed to be the only tourist walking around taking photos. The small pier was very quiet with all the shops and food stall closed. The air was very pleasant at the pier. I had never experienced this area being so deserted and lonely like this. I prayed that there is still hope and opportunity for the country to get back on firmer footing again in the near future.
