The Biltmore estate is located in Asheville, North Carolina, and was the vision of George W. Vanderbilt. He hired architect Richard Morris Hunt to design the 250-room French Renaissance chateau. It is the largest home in America.
I Have visited here many times and over the years have taken a lot of photographs at the Biltmore.
Biltmore estate encompasses more than 8,000 acres including gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who is perhaps best known for the design and creation of Central Park in New York and the U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington, D.C. These photos were taken in the 4 acre walled garden.
The Conservatory, designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt, was built to provide Biltmore House with flowers and tender bedding plants. It still provides that role today, over 100 years later
The Conservatory consists of four main rooms. The “Palm House,” contains a large collection of foliage plants, including palms and ferns. The annexes include a cool house, hot house and orchid house. There is over 7,000 square feet and it is a wonderful tropical escape in the wintertime.
Since I was not able to get out to take pictures for my #WednesdayWalk. a challenge stared by @tattoodjay, I am remembering this stroll through the gardens at The Biltmore for today's walk.

We were in Asheville a few years ago, but when I found out the entrance fee I knew we should probably spend at least 4 hours there to make it worthwhile! We didn't have that much time as we were on our way to another city in North Carolina. My mother-in-law had visited it with a tour group and told us how beautiful and impressive it was! Anyway, if we make it back that way some day, we will save a good portion of time and maybe stay overnight in Asheville. Thanks for your photos!
Good thinking! We used to plan our visits so that we arrived when the gates opened and didn't leave until evening Once we splurged and stayed at the Biltmore Inn, so that we had two days! It is worth the price of admission if you ever have an opportunity! You literally are treated like a guest of the Biltmore Estate while you are there.

Yes, my best friend ...
Wow. What a beautiful place and your photography is outstanding.
Beautiful work @melinda010100
Thanks so much! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it!
Biltmore has extensive gardens and beautiful flower plants, the variety of colors of flowers in the Biltmore garden fascinated me. It's like a queen garden, I want to be there.
Thanks for this @melinda010100
I think the Vanderbilts probably had more money than the queen! It is a truly beautiful place. I just showed photos from a very small portion of the property.
Really a beautiful place, I will wait for it
Strolling down memory lane. I think that counts. I have only been once. It is a wonderful place
Isn't it incredible? Jim had a fascination with the place and it's history and told everyone he knew that they had to go there to see it!
oh my gosh! you've been there many times? why? I've always wanted to go there, the place always make my mouth drop in pictures and online videos. But I didn't even know about the Conservatory.
It was one of Jim's favorite places. No trip to anywhere in the southeast was complete until we had done a day or two at the Biltmore. After he 'discovered' it, we went back every year. He loved the stories of the history of the place and the people. He read everything he could find about the family and about Olmstead. In 1898 the School of Forestry was started on the Biltmore Estate to repair damage that had been done to the forest by logging companies. The Biltmore Inn which is on the site is a really elegant place to stay and we had some wonderful meals when we stayed there. And we often met other people who went back every year. It is a truly fascinating place
ok now I'm thoroughly jealous!
Such beautiful photos! I loved every single one, but I have to say that my favorites are these ones. I believe they condense the essence of the place pretty well, from what I perceive in your post. What a lovely walk you must have had :)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked these. It is such an extensive property that it's impossible to get it all into one post! The house is amazing The Stables are incredible, the Bass Pond is so beautiful and then there's the dairy! I have tons of photos that I took there.
Thank you for sharing this. It brings back great memories. My husband and I visited Biltmore years ago. It is beautiful both inside and out. The gardens were quite amazing! I would love to visit at Christmas time.
My young cousin lives there. She bought a season pass this year and will often go out and just lay in the grass and spend her afternoon reading a book. She's a nurse at the hospital in Asheville so the Biltmore is like a big backyard for her. And her photos make me completely envious. The last time I was there you were not able to take photos inside the house. They've changed that and she is always taking the coolest pictures.
Wow! That would be a great place to walk and relax! I remember the area being just beautiful.
Once upon a time, I lived about 10 minutes from there. It is an awesome place, and the gardens are magnificent on their own! 💖
I do love Asheville! The last time we were there we stayed for a week and rented a great vacation place near the river.
I so enjoy your post set up! You started with the huge house, then throw the post, and get down to the details with delish flower pictures :D
Thanks! I was trying to put the garden in the proper context. It is a truly special garden.
GardenZ needs and deserve full glory & you made it fab ♡ 🐲ℒℴve 🐉♡
wow awesome photographs...
Thanks for share with us...
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed them!
A gardener's dream come true. The second picture, with the mansion in the middle of the nowhere, is a spectacular shot.
This view paints a clear picture of the size of the structure.
And it shows the size of the property they still own around it. 8,000 acres is a lot! But I'd be happy living in the stables. Can you imagine coming home from Europe with your new bride and coming up the miles long drive and turning the corner and saying there's your new house honey!
Beautiful architecture and flowers, with some interesting history...a pretty good walk without even leaving the house :-)
This is the only kind of walk that anyone is going to be able to talk me into when it's this cold outside! Winter is beautiful as long as I can watch it through the window. I love the stories that you hear when you go through that house, of the craftsman who built it, of the family. There was so much going on there that I think you could visit a hundred times and not hear the same story twice.
Sounds like an interesting place to visit...when the weather warms up again
:-)

I had not seen this post so beautiful. These pictures are wonderful... Being able to visit this place must be great
The Biltmore House is the largest privately owned home in the United States. The Biltmore Company is still run by the descendants of George Vanderbilt; the man who built the house, and I must say, they do it right. It is 800 miles/1280km away from where I live.
I have said many times your photos are wonderful and this place is so beautiful😍😍😍
I would love to visit this place someday, it must be quite an experience. Beautiful photos Melinda 🌸💖🌸
I hope you do visit. I can't say enough good things about how amazing it all is, Thanks so much!
What great looking place and all that vegetation so pretty.
