This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.
Make me Smile Collaboration
As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,
Here are the rules for her challenge
Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem,drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post
For this weeks walk Post I will share a few shots of a Walk I did around Buttonwood Park here in New Bedford, its a nice good sized Park, with the Buttonwood Zoo included but for this post I am walking around the park I was focused on getting some shots of the memorials and features there, Starting with this little piece not to far from the entrance to the Zoo

As I said I was focusing on some of the Memorials in the park, Starting with this one in Memory of American Portuguese war Veterans

And another this one dedicated to All Black Americans from the Greater New Bedford area who served our country in the armed forces in all wars

There are other memorials in the park, some I havent got shots of, but a couple I will save for a post on their own as I have a few shots of them, but to show the area I walked a last couple of shots, a big straight stretch of the walk was along this road, beside the park

Very nice! This looks like a really cool place to visit. I haven't really been to a proper park in long time. Besides the one that my wife and I walk at from time to time. I guess I should say city parks I haven't been to. We visit a lot of state parks though. Awesome shots!
Its a real nice park to stroll around, plenty of space and not to many people just what I like

So many nice memorials, but most I like this little tower - it looks great in monochrome.
The path under the trees looks also very nice and somehow cooler than the one in the blazing sun.

Must be interesting to see - we don't have such memorials here, at least not that many.
Yeah, it should cool down here too they say - the past days have been really hot, but after so many rainy days I loved even sweating.

There are a bunch of new people from another site that we knew - that just closed down - and so I was giving them some suggestions!
@andysantics48 was doing some amazing Wednesday walks - and i was like oh yeah!!! hehehe
I was so happy that you still did them - and then i joined up again and the rest was history hehehe
so - you know how it is -people join and fade - join and fade - but hopefully some will stick around and keep the energy and momentum alive
just - thank you for having such a lovely challenge to not only encourage people to get outside!!! but also to stir them to share their world through pictures and writing!!

This is such a lovely walk. I walked my own neighborhood yesterday again, so I didn't post as I did that last week. I need to get out more.
I really like this park and attached to the zoo, even more incentive to go. I am warmed by all the Memorials, hate the idea that they even need to put one up as it means they went to war, but, I am sure it is heartwarming for a relative, knowing that the town was thinking of them.
It has been so nice to come along as you show off New Bedford. It has been so nice for me to go back up there, if only virtually. You really picked a wonderful town with so much character to settle in.

Interesting that they have memorials for different nationalities, races and faiths. Is it near a military base or historical grounds that they would have the memorials there?
