Wednesday walk challenge - The Highline and Steem Basic Income Give away
Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.
Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion, but you may have a better chance of receiving a Steem Basic Income Share if you do.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.
Actifit
A good App that works well in conjunction with the Wednesday Walk or any day walk is @actifit, which rewards you with Actifit Tokens and Steemit Upvotes, if you use the app to track your steps and do a post of your actifit total each day.
If you do a lot of activity I do recommend you check it out
Make me Smile Collaboration
As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,
On the third Wednesday of the month out two challenges will collaborate so if you combine the two into one post you have double the fun
Here are the rules for her challenge
Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post
So the collaboration giveaway is as follows
As well as the SBI shares normally given away from the Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenge, we will send one SBI Share each to one lucky winner who joins both challenges in one post
This weeks walk some art on the Highline
I will be honest these photos are not from this week, I have been out walking most days, but haven't got around to editing the photos yet, so this is a Way back Wednesday Walk from me, but since I do not have rules only guidelines and I always say I am flexible I am fine with that and not going to tell myself off.
These shots are on the Highline in NYC, a cool Park, that is built on the old train Tracks in the Meat Packing District of NYC, What caught my Eyes as soon as I got on the Highline on this walk, w ere these flags waving over the walk way, I found a sign for them and they are called "Garlands" and are by Daniel Buren, they sure add a nice splash of color over the walkway

Here are more of the Garland feature with the highline in the background

This next Piece is by Firelei Baez but I did not note down the name of this piece, I do love the highline it has art that rotates as well as a nice long walking path up off the city streets and plenty of nice little gardens all the way along
Sony A7iii 26mm F8 1/80 ISO 100

NOw the cool thing about art is what someone may love other may not feel the same way, take these next two pieces, for example, I thought they were worth taking a shot but didn't really grab my attention to want to stop and enjoy them if that makes sense
The art pieces are by Ryan Sullivan and them art titled Blue and Brown Painting, this first one is Brown

And this one is Blue
I guess what I liked most about these pieces is the title, in that it made me feel better about some of the titles I come up with for posts or photos :)

Steem Basic Income give away
I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income
What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to send some Steem Basic Income shares to 5 people selected through a random draw so on the weekend all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk. @leylar, @kamrunnahar, @fitinfun, @tali72, @tijntje,
all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk .
And a special bonus this week @elizacheng will send one SBI share to @bigtom13,
I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge
I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.
unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

I am a big fan of SBI as well and your welcome
I've been posting these just for the fun - didn't know there were SBI involved. I love doing wednesday walks! Here's mine for this week. I've also provided a link to this on another of your posts @tattoodjay, but it might not have been this week's. Apologies for double entry if so!

Well its all about having fun I just like giving out some SBI as a thank you to randomly selected people who join the fun
Have a great weekend
I am just loving these Wednesday walks! I'm an emerging photographer, and these walks have given me new eyes. Thank you so much!
https://steempeak.com/wednesdaywalk/@owasco/wednesday-walk-in-my-wildlife-sanctuary
That is so kind of you to say and truly appreciated :)
Have a great weekend
I miss a city walk - I never share the walk around my home as I see it every day and think it's boring, but I guess it might not be to others! We are going for a walk tonight so I'll try to take a few pics and share it next week. It's fun to get more involved with the #wednesdaywalk thing - been commenting on others today and it's fascinating seeing where poeple live!
That’s what I love about hosting the Wednesday Walk I get to virtually travel the world
Funny thing you may find you say your neighborhood is boring but when you start looking for things to photo you may be surprised 👍😎👍
Happy #WednesdayWalk!!
I don't always use photos from the same week although I try my best to keep it fresh! The High Line is very interesting and the flags make a very unique picture, especially from a distance. They indeed do look like Garland and I also like that little splash of color.
The blue and brown are actually cool and caught my eye and surprising. What are they made of?
As always, a wonderful day to you!
!tip
I generally try to keep it fresh but with the nice weather i have bene taking so many photos I am way behind in editing the photos but in a way thats good I will have a stock of photos to use over the winter months:)
I do love the flags they add such a lovely splash of color at the Start ( or end depending where you get on the Highline) of the walk :)
I mus check tonight and see if it says what they are made of I didnt notice to be honest but i wil check
Actually I can answer to a degree a site said the following they are made with a rubber Mold and pigment
You to have a wonderful day and stay cool

Outdoor art to enjoy whilst out walking what a lovely sunshine days. When or where never really matters it is the fun of memories held from a moment in time of enjoyment.
Each photograph depicts something so different, it is refreshing to see the detail you capture to share.
Thanks I do like the highline Park, they change the art regularly and its nice walking the city up from the streets and all of the vehicles and noise
Love the art! Interesting stuff.
Here's my uncoordinated and rush walk lol!

Look forward to seeing yours later you to have a great day
Good day mate, good to see that you are not telling yourself off and that you have a new found confidence on finding titles for posts lol
These art works blue and brown by Ryan Sullivan are quite interesting. The blue one seems more attractive to me and the brown one looks much more sombre?
Her's my busy bee post today for #wednesdaywalk

LOved your post i never knew they slept on the job, now some of my coworkers, OK lets not go there
LOL glad you noticed how creative i get with my titles NOT LOL
Ah, okay, so this is over by that cool stair building. That is pretty neat. I really like the piece with the small tunnel in it. It almost looks like it belongs there. Very nice shots!
Yes this is at the start of the Highline at 34th Street and the art was between there and 14th Street I think is where the Highline ends
I too liked that piece with the Tunnel through it, butte color of the garlands also was quite pleasing to me
Here's my Walk! https://steemit.com/makemesmile/@elizacheng/special-edition-makemesmile-season-2-episode-17-makemesmile-dsuzellv

LOl I almost forgot this week, but luckily I did remember ;)
WOW...i love the dynamics of that second photo are they real staircases between them two building :)
YEs those are real staircases but a stand alone structure with stairs going up to various levels jus for looks i guess and the views its called the Vessel and is a fairly new attraction in the city
WOW...really i love it running up and down them stairs would certainly keep you fit...lol :)
Well my running up and down the stairs day are over but a nice casual climb up and down them was good exercise 😎
Yep it's only casual walks now but still good that you can get out and do them i am sure it would have been a nice from up them stairs :)
YEs getting out for walks is what relaxes me got a couple in today
Have a great weekend
They certainly do i got a great workout also today and you have a great weekend also :)
Truly exquisite art work in such unexpected area and you captured them so well. Altough I would love to see the one by Firelei Baez in reality. That one is my favorite for sure 😊
This is my humble entry: https://steemit.com/esteem/@lenasveganliving/our-street-for-wednesday-walk
First off nothing Humble about your entry I loved it :)
I do love the highline being raised of the city streets is quite refreshing away from the traffic and they rotate the art which always makes it a cool place to visit every few months :)
I think that Piece you like seems to be the most popular from comments so far
That is very cool and I really like the idea! Oh, so I am not the only one who likes it the most. Well, no surprise there; it is quite extraordinary piece. It almost looks like an ancient ruin.
YEs I did get the feel of it being ancient as well its the coolest piece at the moment i wish I had got more shots of it
Yes, I would love to see more angles of it too! But I am glad you like it too.
I may try and swing back and see it again before they change it
Yeah! That would be great!

What a great walk! I love public art. I don't have much of it in my neck of the woods, so it's fun to see it!
That is one thing I do love about NYC so much art all around the city
So... Can you get shot glasses that look like the Basket thing, yet?
I didnt go intot he shops but. Would ot be surprised if their are souvenirs available of the vessel including shot glasses

Three cheers for Wayback Wednesday Walks! But I hope that @tattoodjay fella doesn't yell at you for breaking the rules - he's a mean, scary dude, and I wouldn't want to cross him!
(just wanted to help you keep your reputation intact...LOL!)
Awesome walk, as always - that's wicked cool that they feature art pieces like that. The Firelei Baez shot was my favorite this week, but the names of Ryan Sullivan's paintings totally cracked me up!
Here's my contribution this week -
Wicked Wayback Wednesday Walk from July 12th 2016
And, !tip steem
Thanks so much I feel my tattered reputation is now on the way to recovery ;)
The Firelei piece seems to be the most popular I really loved it but wasnt sure what others would think
thanks for the tip :)
You're very welcome - on both counts! 😂 😊
😂 I hope your day is going well

I love this! The first Garland photo with the Shadow, of course, but the textures and colors of that second photo have brought me back to look at it again and again! I'm imagining another new pair of Vans.
Thaks and I hadnt though of that but I do love the blues that would look cool on a pair of vans :)
