Yesterday, in the middle of trying to figure out about nineteen million things in regards to hubby's shoulder surgery (paperwork, PT, and pain meds, to name a few), I heard mutterings on social media about a Nor'easter approaching our area, scheduled to hit later tonight. I've been wanting to get some shots of the foliage in our yard, and realized it might be my last chance. Little did I know it would be such a heartful Wednesday Walk wander!
Not to go all Hallmark card on you, but as the past few years weeks have been especially challenging, it was nice to take a few minutes (twenty in total) to breath the fresh air and appreciate the gorgeous land around us. It was about this time last year that we thought for sure we'd have to move quickly (long boring story about our septic system) and while things aren't much better in that regard, we've found a workable solution for now. There are other reasons why this place doesn't quite work for our family any more, but I'm trying to do a better job of appreciating it while we are here.
All of which was why, when I was reviewing the shots from my wander, it was wicked cool to spot a number of heart shapes hiding in a handful of the captures! One I noticed as I was snapping, but the others didn't register in my brain until I was editing & cropping the bunch. Very cool of Mother Nature to drive the heatful point home, so to speak!
Speaking of wandering, don't forget to wander on over to @tattoodjay's latest post, called Wednesday walk challenge Central Park And Make me Smile Collaboration week which has some beautiful wayback sunny shots of Central Park!
Now, on to my photos of a Heartful Wednesday Walk from October 15th 2019!
I mentioned in yesterday's Tarot Tuesday that we're currently being swarmed by lady bugs. How appropriate that one was waiting to greet me as I walked out the front door!
Hard to do justice to the amazing colors, but it helps to have the blue sky as a back drop
Still a fair amount of green, but I don't think it will be around for much longer
Love finding little brilliant bits of color throughout the yard - from orange colored weeds...
...to purplish tree sprouts (they looked a darker purple in person).
Some of the green (specifically the pine trees) will stay the winter...
...but most of what the sun is shining through now will be on the ground in the next few weeks.
With the sun hiding behind the trees, you can see the carpet of leaves has barely begun
I love the look of the sun behind the leaves, and this is one of those shots that as I took a closer look, I could see heart shapes everywhere!
Someone wasn't feeling the love so much though - Mr Chipmunk didn't appreciate having the paparazzi disturbing his late afternoon scramble for nuts!
I took a short video of the Chatty Chipmunk, so you could hear him scolding me for yourself...
Did I mention I love the backlit leaf look?
Our landlady recently bought this wicked cool spiny thing for her garden. I was going to crop this shot down more, to focus on the copper awesomeness, but noticed more heart shapes in the upper right corner.
I call this one, "the last to go" 😂
I was trying to show the golden color of the leaves with the sun shining through - however the shot came out darker than I'd hoped, and cooler than I expected. And it's a bit of a stretch, but I think I spy another heart shape or two.
More sunlit leaves
The side yard is mostly turned, and I expect a large majority of these leaves will be on the ground in the next couple days
Further along the side yard, down where I used to have my Avian Eatery, is a huge
Can you tell it's been pretty rainy for the past week or two? These guys are growing like gangbusters!
To the left of the shrooms is this beautiful bush, covered in multicolored leaves.
I decided to go for a macro shot of a leaf still on the branch, and just as I took the picture, I noticed the heart shape...
...yep, definitely a heart!
I won't even tell you how many
...although this one wasn't too bad either (but I was hoping for more rays).
As I was getting ready to head in the house, the bright color of these leaves on the ground next to where I was standing caught my eye, so I grabbed a quick shot before going back inside. Again, it wasn't until I looked at them later that I saw how love-ly they really were.
Happy walking & see you next week!

Isnt it could how nature gave you many hearts todday her ay of showing you it will all work out well :)
What gorgeous shots so beautiful
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk
PS how funny the week you dont do a Way Back Walk, I do one LOL
Oh no, I didn't realize your daughter in law needed surgery - is it also shoulder surgery? And hubby had his surgery almost two weeks ago - turns out that was the easy part. It's the recovery that's a bear! I hope whatever it is that your DiL is facing for surgery that it goes very well and her recuperation is short and pain-free.
Thanks so much for your wonderful compliments, and too funny that I had a rare new photo while you had a rare old! 😂 😂
She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and is having a mastectomy in January, the recovery time will be three or 4 weeks I think
Wishing your hubby a speedy recovery
She is in my thoughts, @tattoodjay and thank you for the good wishes for my hubby. 🤗
Thanks, She is going to a specialist hospital in Boston which has a very good reputation so I am sure it will all be good thanks :)
Oh, that's awesome, @tattoodjay! I know people who've come across country to have procedures done in Boston, so that's extra encouraging news. 🙏 🤗
Ohh yes indeed I was kind of glad when I heard she would be going there
Have a great day
What a beautiful post. I thoroughly enjoyed the photos & the chatty chipmunk video cracked me up. He definitely wasn't too thrilled but he was so cute. 😍 Lol
I resteemed this. Thanks for sharing this! Maybe I will post some autumn photos I took last weekend soon. 💗
Hope you're doing well, my friend. Sending lots of love & pixie dust. ✨🧚

Thank you so much in return, @pixiepost! I'm hanging in there, thanks - I hope all is well with you and Timmy too! And I'll keep my eyes open for the possible appearance of some of your autumn pictures - I bet they're gorgeous! 😊
Love those leaves at the end! That's what makes autumn so spectacular. I suspect you're going to get some awesome foliage soon!
Hopefully your husband continues to heal and gets better soon. That's gotta be stressful on you. Thinking good thoughts for you!
I'm hoping that we still have some foliage waiting in the wings - I know it's peaked a few places nearby, and the storm last night knocked a bunch of leaves down, but I still plan to be stalking some trees...LOL!
And thanks so much, Victor - it's greatly appreciated. 😊
Upvoted 50% because of the chatty chipmunk, and the great pics, but the chipmunk was awesome hahah
LOL! Thanks so much, @fenngen - if I see Mr Chatty, I'll tell him I appreciate the awesomeness he added to my post. 😂
Cool, send my regards 😁

Beautiful photos...and the chatty chipmunk is a legend!
Thanks, Catherine! Glad to see your first post got so much awesome attention too - maybe Mr Chatty is also good luck! 😂
Beautiful, Traci, and a good reminder (to me) to get out and about a bit... ;)
Thank you, Fiona! Hope you're able to get out and about without much muck around! 😊
It's getting there. Trenches for pipes today...

You are our resident Chipmunk Paparazzi!
Now that's a title to hold and display on a resume!
LOL! That's wicked awesomesauce, @goldendawne! It's a moniker I'll wear with pride! 😂 😊
The golden backlit leaves, the fiery orange leaf with the heart shape cutout and the chipmunk were my favorites, and the layers mushrooms were a remarkable sight!🍄
I had to smile when I read your "go all Hallmark on you" comment!😀
Hopefully the forecasted Nor'easter didn't leave you stranded. Sounds as though you have your hands full getting things squared away with your husband's shoulder surgery. Good luck! @traciyork
Oh wow, @ninahaskin! Thanks so much for your wonderfully kind words. The Nor'easter was more intense than we expected, but we got off lightly - lots of power flickers, but we never lost power. Appreciate all the good vibes, and hope you have an amazing weekend! 😊
Looks quite tranquil out there. Only thing missing is a little breeze blowing that fall air in the photos to teleport someone to that moment walking about.
Thanks for sharing, I hope everything is on the up and up moving forward.
Thank you, @enjar! And wouldn't that be awesome, to have a full fall immersion experience - maybe by next year on the blockchain it will be a thing! 😂
And we're getting there, thanks. 😊
I am so glad you got out for such a wonderful walk. It does renew your spirit and energy, doesn't it? That is a wonderful collection of autumn photos, hearts and all! Sending hugs and a !tip
Aww, thanks so much Melinda!

🎁 Hi @traciyork! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @melinda010100!What a wonderful world we live in, being outdoors we appreciate how much.
Chipmunk sounds more like a bird twittering around, very cute little fellow.
Now down to those mushrooms, I sincerely hope they are edible, some butter and garlic fried mushrooms are good to go any day of the week in my life Traci.
I actually thought for the longest time that it was birds making that noise, @joanstewart! It wasn't until a few years ago, when I was taking a picture of one and noticed the sound was coming from him... 😂
And I completely agree - I was SO tempted to pick and pan fry those beauties, but my fungi ID skills aren't strong enough for me to feel confident enough to do so.
Hope you're having an amazing weekend!
Oh what lovely shots Traci! You definitely nailed the beauty of the season. We've really only just gotten some fall weather here, so it seems crazy to think winter is really not that far behind! With how hot it was so late, I'm not sure we'll get that much color in the trees. Seems like a lot of them are just turning brown and dropping. Fingers crossed for a few welcome glimpses of that stunning color, though. It was pretty chilly the last few nights, though still nice during the day. I caught a little garter snake sunning himself in the backyard yesterday, but didn't have my phone on me to try to get a shot. Snakes aren't my favorite, but he was pretty cute (and harmless). Hope you don't get hit with too bad of weather just yet! Warm wishes as the hubs continues to recover!
Thanks so much, Katie! I hope you get some beautiful bursts of color before the season is over. And I hear that - a couple weeks ago, hubby found a small garter snake under a rock near our house, and it was moving as if it were hurt. The next day, it jumped out in front of me and skittered quickly down the driveway and I was half relieved to see it doing so well, and half ooged out to the max!
We got fairly lucky with the storm (which ended up turning into an awesomely
NOTnamed Bomb cyclone) and only had about a half dozen power flickers, and no major downed trees. However, wind was so intense it forced water in through a window in our bedroom (of course, the one behind my side of the bed!) but it could've been so much worse. Oh, and I passed your wishes along to Jim and he said thanks! 😊Oh yikes, that stinks about the leak, but glad it wasn't too bad otherwise. Hopefully it isn't too nasty of a winter ahead up there.
I'm pretty sure I would have squealed pretty loudly if the snake jumped out in front of me! Even when they are teeny weeny I still get the shivers, haha.
Given how many acorns are carpeting the ground (which is one of those Old Farmer's Almanac kind of weather prediction things), I get the feeling we're in for a beaut. But at least I won't have to worry too much about hubby being out in it for at least the next four-ish months. 😂
Oh yeah - so you heard me all the way over there, eh? 😉
A snake squeal? Yes, I can hear those from about 5,000 miles away. Just in case I need to run away from here. 🤣
Great pictures! Love the sun’s rays illuminating the leaves! Hope things settle down for you!

Thank you so much, @cindyhartz, on all counts! Much appreciate you stopping by! 😊
so glad you took the time to get out and snap some photos of the fall colors before they are gone!
I especially like your images with the light shining though the leaves!
Thanks for sharing and I hope all goes well with your husband's surgery!
He's slowly but surely getting better, thanks @porters! And appreciate your kind words - I'm glad I was able to get out to get some captures too, because that storm ended up being pretty intense. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! 😊
The is is a wonderful #WednesdayWalk photo collection, @traciyork! I love the light shining through the trees! And I love the Wednesdaywalk tag. It motivates me each week!
I’m sorry to hear about your house challenges and your husband’s surgery. I hope all smoothes out soon.
I feel the same way about the Wednesday Walk tag, @jayna - it's a great motivator! And thanks so much for the good thoughts - every day, things are slowly but surely getting better. 😊
Oh I love that little Chipmunk. Such a pity that we don't have them here, but I think that they will have a hard time with all of the squirrels around.
A lovely post here and we wish you a very special heart shaped leaf.
Blessings!
I'm surprised by how many chipmunks hang out with the red and grey squirrels in our yard, Sir Stephen - although given how plentiful the food sources are around here, I'm guessing they don't have much to fight about. Thank you so much, and bright blessings to you as well! 😊
Must be an amazing sight to see them all together Lady Traci.
So great that you have a lot of food there.
Cool here today and wet squirrels after the overnight rain, but they will soon stretch out in the weak sunlight.
May you guys also have a good week.
Blessings!
Ah beginning to see yellows and oranges. Is this how it looks like during the start of autumn? I dream of experiencing Autumn at least once. Loved the photos.
Oh, I hope you do get to experience fall foliage at some point, @watersnake101! Yes, this is how it starts off, and while our yard never gets too dramatic (too many pine trees that don't change color), there are so many places around us that just burst with oranges, reds, and yellows for weeks! And thanks so much! 😊

Chipmunk seemed to be a bit perturbed by the paparazzi's invasion! LOL
This is really a beauty of a post! Though I know what'll be on the ground - a big source of depression for me the time when I was stationed up north.
Yeah, the little furry critters around here are definitely not fond of my shutterbugging...LOL!
Thanks so much, @free-reign. And I hear that - I've battled seasonal depression (along with a few other diagnoses) for a number of years, but I can't imagine living anywhere that doesn't have four distinctive seasons. Much appreciate you stopping by. 😊
Ahwwww that chipmunk
LOL! Yeah, they're adorably obnoxious, @brittandjosie. 😂 😊
Yes but we don’t have them here as much so I guess me and the boys will be glad to take obnoxious for a day haha
I love the beautiful fall colors. They make any walk worth it.
Thanks so much, @blockurator! I agree - the foliage also turns regular errands into fun leaf peeping drives. 🍁 ❤️ 🍁
Its so cool to see the colors changing, we don't get that in San Antonio Texas @traciyork great photos. 👍

Whenever I get grumpy about New England winters, @wonderwop, I remind myself that we live where people vacation in the fall to see the colors change. And thanks so much for your kind words. 😊
Fab post Traci. Cute chipmunk and autumn views. I wish your hubby a speedy recovery.
Thanks so much, Jo! I've passed along your well wishes to Jim, and he said, "thank you!" 😊
@traciyork - a beautiful Wednesday walk Traci! Sorry to hear you're having problems with the homestead, moving is a real pain in the behind, but if you end up having to do it, I'm sure you'll find somewhere great to land!
Much appreciated, Tammy! I've been telling hubby and the kids that maybe the reason we haven't found anyplace else yet is because the Universe is working on making it the perfect spot for us (and sometimes I even believe it...LOL!). And thanks so much for your awesomely kind words. 😊

Your photos are always Love-ly.
And why oh why did you strike out "fairy condo complex"? Love that line, glad I could still see it. I wonder how many people don't read something that has been struck out? I have to go back to read them.
Thanks so much, @owasco! The strike out thing is something another blogger pointed out to me ages ago, and said it worked as a kind of reverse psychology kind of thing - something about striking out the words actually gives them more emphasis (or so the theory goes). I like to be silly with it sometimes, and I'm glad you enjoyed that line (I've used it before with some amazingly magical mushroom groupings I've found over the years). Appreciate you stopping by! 😊
Beautiful fall colors today @traciyork :) I always dreaded the storm that would come through to shorten our display of rich fall colors, so sad.. Glad you were able to capture a final beautiful assortment, truly a treat! Hope all goes well with the surgery and the storm!
Thank you, @birdsinparadise! Same here, but even though that storm was pretty intense, we still have a fair amount of color around - good timing, since some leaves hadn't turned yet. Much appreciate the well wishes too! 😊
