question: What is a political entrepreneur? And what are some examples of it in our daily life? (source: @anniebburg)

response: There are a few ways to define a political entrepreneur. It could be business men getting into politics in order to generate profit for themselves. On the other hand, Political entrepreneurs could be people who generate action within the political sphere through means of production, fairly similar to market entrepreneurs. They create ideas and could be considered leaders in new politics, with many praising them as people who can create something from nothing to help solve problems plaguing society. They take resources and push them towards a production that otherwise would not have taken place. The term 'political entrepreneur' seems relatively new but there does seem to be a lot of movement for it now. We have seen an increase in 'entrepreneurs' enter the political scene and run for various offices, with some seeing more success than others. I think its more because money is politics and it costs to run a campaign, so these people are fully realizing the potential they have to directly influence politics. There are others that are more subtle, who just fund campaigns and/or lobbying to help manipulate policies and laws to achieve a goal. Modern day examples of these people are Mike Bloomberg and Mark Warner.
