Hello everyone greetings from this side. How is it over there? Guess we all doing great. In today's post I will love to share my wonderful experience, traveling with my colleagues to the rail station.
As one of the requirements to be a certified professional Builder, we were expected to know about the various road system, which includes the estate road, laterite road and also the rail track. Isn't this interesting? Yes and also beautiful! After series of lectures Dr. Alao the course lecturers proposed an excursion to the near by train station. Under the Nigeria rail system, the North central zone, Niger state was the bear by. Everyone was happy to be part of this great adventure!
Days and weeks passed and here the awaited day came.we were all ready early morning at the school gate waiting for the arrival of the provided bus from the school. What was the main objective and goal of this adventure? To be able to see in reality what was being taught in the four wall of the class. And to also know how the system works. We were registered marked. And vuoommmm the long bus start and we move.
It was a 65 minutes drive away from the school. We student were happy and catch funs along the way. The class rep and his organizers prepared a little snacks for everyone. And also a short questions and answers was carried out where at random you could be selected to answer some questions. Some were funny while others analytic. Some students were on earpiece and headset so they didn't participate well here.
And little did we know we've arrived our destination. It was a very big station. We alighted the bus. And we all converge at a spot. Addressed by our patron Mr. Sunday in how to behave and reacts on the public facility, we waited outside, the waiting space for the staff to recieve us in. We could see the joy around them infact they were waiting for an opportunity like this to interact with students. And do you know what? Some amonithem were graduants of the same school we are.
At the Rail track. This first place we were taking to was the rail track were we saw exactly what we were shown in class through section drawings. The rail track comprises of components as follows; the track which rest on a sleeper which could be of wooden, concrete or steel form. Resting on a balast whic is mainly gravesl to help transfer the load from the train and sleeprs to the ground. The balast also helps to drain water away and prevent vegetation which could obstruct the track. The rail track is a narrow gauge system.
The fasteners are bolted and hookes.
Next we were taking to the manual track controller where the track is being changed in direction it's a manual system. With a handle where the track man can hold and move pull and push side ways to open and close a track. After some questions and answers from us the students and being satisfied we were taking to the cabin the electrical track control room. Where all the tracks are marked and each with it's control witch.
A group of 10 10 Students were selected up to the cabin. I was among the second set to go in. It was a wow I appreciated the wisdom.of the white man seeing how the system really works.
After which were taken to the main control House were the engineers are. We saw the various locomotive engineer train, vip or minister and others specified lable trains. A mega fuel station is situated in the middle of the train station. After many explanation and interaction. We were happily releadt to take some pictures and stroll the environment. With causion any one who injured himself is to pay a fine. So we move with health and safety mindsets.
At the point of this adventure the rail station was on hold of duty. No transportation activities for now. Due to the insecurities encountered. The train is not to operate. So we're were able to see the various trains and their various uses. From the passenger train to the cargo train. The train is just like a moving house. It has almost every primary part of a house.with rest room and bars. Wowwww.
We snapped and strolled our ways in groups. Finally all called to the bus were we were marked register for departure. Now everyone was tired we rarely make noise as unlike the time coming. It was a great day to remember here. We saw the real thing outside the book. And I will love to travel someday via train. I really enjoyed this trip and it makes my weekend a great one to remember.
