THE SPECIAL WEEKEND

The weekend is usually what most 9-5 corporate workers look up to except me, basically because I do work over the weekends and it gets annoying and tiring sometimes.

However, fortunately for me, last weekend was one I had all to myself which usually isn’t the way it worked for me and I was super glad because I got to visit my family and spent some time with them.

On the 30th of January, I arranged my stuffs in my not so little tote bag and went over to my parent’s at Badagry.
The good thing was my visit was a surprise because I didn’t inform them of my coming, and boy, it was a needed visitation. I never knew how much I was missed at home till I got there. I was fed immediately, my younger sisters were all over me and my parent were just praying for me.

In preparation for the new year celebration, my mum decided to make some delicacies, our well known banga soup made with palm kernel juice , ukodo which is known as yam and pepper-soup and then some fried meats and stew. And of course I had to help out in the kitchen.

The preparation was done smoothly and we all ate and drank to our satisfactions and even though it was new year eve, we were still happy to be together.

After that we went to church as it’s a tradition to always start a new year in church. We prayed for God’s blessings and left for home after the close of service.

Going home over the weekend was like a mini vacation to me because I really needed the rest and my family by my side and it was indeed a welcomed experience.
