Hellooooooo World!
Mr Sun had finally show up today. It is definitely a great day for road trip!
- This kid is ever ready, all his bag are well prepared by his mom! Aint he a lucky kid.. 😉
Actually, here in the Philippines, we have a very loooooooooong weekend because of the holidays which happened to be on a Tuesday and then the Malacañang proclaimed Monday as a Special Non-Working day. Isn't that goooooood. However, since we were still experiencing Typhoon Paeng almost a week, we were but reluctant to travel home.
Buuuuuuuut, time and weather has permitted us to go home to the hometowm of my ex boyfie. He is a native to SAMAR, particularly in Catbalogan City and I am from Tacloban City and we are currently working in Southern Leyte. Heck! What are the odds that life is sooooo ironic and weird! Hahaha.. Fate had somehow played with map! Arrrggghhhh Cupid must have been drunk.. 🤣😂..
Well, lezzzzzzz gooooo to SAMAR!!
As per google map, the approximate distance from Sogod, Southern Leyte to Catbalogan, Samar is 231 km and will take about 5 hr and 31 min to get there. However, that is if your are travelling alone and without kids. So imagine you have three, I repeat THREE KIDS!! I do not think that we could reach the destination that fast. Uh ah! Aunt happening. And for the fact that there few roads that are closed or under renovation due to the typhoon or other road concreting/repair. So I tell you, it would take us forever!!!
We had left Sogod at around 9:30 am and we had stopped in Tacloban City for lunch at my parent's house. They missed the kids and we decided to have Jollibee takeouts. Yeah I know! The kids loooove Jollibee and Mr Mcdonald, who doesn't??!!
By 3:15, we set forth for Catbalogan City, Samar. The travel had taken a to on us because most the road are badly damaged!!! Like there were big holes (I dont know they are called) that makes our journey be on slow and alert that we dont get the tires on the holes. To think, we are using the National Highway. Hello DPWH beke nemen!.. Really the government has to take this matter seriously and provide appropriate action and fast!
Sadly, we reached Catbalogan City at nealy dark around 6pm something. Atleast, we arrived home safely. Thank Daddy G for the safe travels, you know how long I have to keep my patience and sanity intact during the travel. Hahahahahaaha only moms cab relate! 🤣😂.. rest assured mommies no kids has been harmed, only the mom who got tired.. haha.
Even, if we reached Samar this late, it did not stop us to tour around the place because the last time we were here was last year. Yes that is one pandemic reasons for our less travels. And now, we cannot forego travelling anymore especially during loooooong weekends like this one.
The city of truly full of life! They had one section showcasing a tunnel of ligths! Actually, it is kinda trending to have in every town of their own tunnel of lights. In Sogod, the LGU setups during Decembers.
We also, stopped over at their famous family park of all time, the Imelda Park. They have installed a very beautiful icon that speaks Samar in one word. SPARK---- SPARK SAMAR!! that is one of their official taglines. Amazingly, I was momentarily admiring the light effects! Soooo cool!
And their LGU building is just a couple km away, and I think they have built it in the looks of the White House.
Lastly, before we head home we had to eat some of our favorites where we could only truly enjoy when in Samar.
The ever delicious and maintained flavor of the ****Mango Shake***, there is no one can compare how mangoey and smooth they make. It is truly something that we crave whenever we are in the area.
The other one is their homemade ice cream. It is not just any other ice cream, theirs is really gooood. To date, they already had invented a few flavors over the years. And the cone was homemade as well.
And there is but ONE that I would always want to have when Im in Samar, that is the HALO-HALO and MAIS CON YELO of Tinas. It is one of the oldest restaurant in the city, way way back before I was born nor my ex boyfie. And yet they still maintained the recipe all throughout. Sadly today, we were not lucky to eat there because they were already closed. I am hoping tomorrow we could get back.
Hmmmm.. tomorrow is another story. Gotta hop for bed now, because the Nanny (me!!!) is sooooo tired.
Nytnyt y'all!
