What is Keto? You may be like me and had never heard of this woe (way of eating), but let me tell you that since finding out about it and jumping in with both feet...it has been a game changer! What is the Ketogenic Diet you may ask?
A keto diet is well known for being a low carb diet, where the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. It's referred to as many different names – ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat (LCHF), etc. When you eat something high in carbs, your body will produce glucose and insulin.
It's a high fat (that's right high fat), moderate protein and low carb way of eating. If you're anything like I am, you have been trained over the years that high fat or fat, in general, is bad for you. Well, not anymore. The fat helps you to stay full longer, getting your required goal amount of protein is key and your carbs come from leafy green veggies. The only fruit you can have are berries in moderation.
Now, I know that seems like a lot to wrap your mind around, but it is not as bad as you are probably thinking. But, if I can do it, you can too!
